Islamic organizations condemning violence

The flower of the flock is undoubtedly Muzammil Siddiqui, president of the FCNA. Mercifully, he has confined himself to cursing America (“the wrath of God” and all that stuff).
CAIR’s credentials are not much better, says Emerson: “In the past 4 years, several CAIR officials have been convicted of or charged with various terrorism-related offenses.” The organization has championed and defended officials and leaders of Islamic terrorist groups such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Any prosecution of Islamic terrorists; any freezing of funds for their various front organizations; any deportation of radical Islamic clerics who preach jihad – CAIR greets with squalls of “Islamophobia” and “war against Islam.” According to CAIR, the indictment of Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Sami al-Arian on conspiracy to murder more than 100 people was “politically motivated” and instigated by “the attack dogs of the pro-Israeli lobby.”

Speaking of “the Children of Israel,” one particular Quranic verse (5:32) quoted by the Fiqh folks in support of Islam’s humanity piqued my curiosity because of a similar sounding Talmudic saying. As the Fatwa has it, this ayah declares that, “Whoever kills a person [unjustly] … it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.”

Prompted by Dr. Daniel Pipes, I examined the context of the passage in “The Meaning of the Qur’an,” by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, only to find that the FCNA has “decontextualized” it. The Quran actually says the following:
On that account: We ordained
For the Children of Israel
That if anyone slew
A person – unless it be
For murder or for spreading
Mischief in the land –
It would be as if
He slew the whole people:
And if anyone saved a life,
It would be as if he saved
The life of the whole people.
Then although there came
To them Our Messenger
With Clear Signs, yet,
Even after that, many
Of them continued to commit
Excess in the land.

The verse apparently concerns the dread-Jew. At the very least, it’s fair to say this Quranic ayah is considerably less humanistic and universal than the Council claims. “Spreading mischief,” whatever that entails, qualifies as a reason to slay a person. Unjust killing is clearly not too circumscribed an activity. The fatwa finesses the original words – and their context.
Devoid of the killing component, the Talmudic version simply and unequivocally states that, “To save one life is like saving the world.” Contrary to the Quranic ayah, it doesn’t whittle down humanity.

The real issue here is this: Whatever ancient Jewish or church teachings may have preached, the modern nation-states dominated by Jews and Christians (believers and non-believers) follow the rule of enlightened Western law. It’s indeed possible there are sadistic Americans and Israelis who’d like to put apostates and blasphemers to death, genitally mutilate little girls, amputate the hands of thieves, beat their wives with impunity, stone women for committing adultery (the definition of which includes rape) and homosexuals for sodomy, or consider the testimony of a non-Jewish or Christian male to be worth half that of a Jewish or Christian male (women witnesses are similarly weighted in Islam). But they can’t. Or if they did, they’d be punished. Western law won’t countenance such cruelty.
Not so the law in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, or in other Muslim countries where the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (Sharia) are law. Yet the Fiqh Council assures us that the Quran embraces humanity. Even more ironic: In the process of persuasion, the Islamic community’s professed front men find the need to fib about what the Quran really says.

The Baptist guerrillas

At the top of a mountain perpetually shrouded in mist, the general headquarters of the I-M guerrilla army is in Nagaland’s Garden of Eden.

A guerrilla fighter keeps watch.
The forested corridor leading to the camp is intersected by rivers and men, who emerge from the jungle speaking into walkie-talkies. The last corkscrew mile of road is so steep the jeeps routinely stall, forcing soldiers to walk the three-hour ascent.

Women guerrillas pick wildflowers to brighten their bunkers, blood-red poinsettias and white orchids. They sew fatigues with material from Burma and wash their clothes in river water.

Each soldier is required to carry two items at all times - a packet of salt to fight dehydration and a pocket-sized Gideons International Bible.

Capt. Edwin Shimray, a slight and extremely polite 28-year-old, holds his book gently, like a delicate mountain flower.

“In the battlefield, even if we don’t have time to read,” he says in English, “there is some inspiration in knowing I’m holding the Bible. It’s with me.”

The I-M general headquarters is the base for 1,000 guerrillas. Altogether, the I-Ms claim a force 6,000 strong, spread out over the territory. Trained by the Chinese, they have been in the jungle for more than 23 years.

A cease-fire declared in 1997 and still tenuously in place, has allowed them to be more open.

Since 1992, 213 Indian soldiers have been killed trying to keep the grip on Nagaland, according to the South Asia Terrorism Portal. To build support, the Indian government pours money into the region’s roads, electricity and schools, but demands no federal taxes.

At morning roll call, guerrillas bow their heads in prayer.
In the guerrilla camp, bunkers are named for biblical locations like Zion, Canaan and Horeb.

The central gathering point of the camp is a tented church, where a poster bearing the I-M insignia, a golden crucifix surrounded by sheaves of rice, hangs behind a wooden pulpit.

Their slogan, which the soldiers shout out at morning roll call, is “Nagalim for Christ” - a subtle change from the K’s cry of “Nagaland for Christ.”

Both mottoes are the last words, villagers allege, that those who refuse to pay hear before being executed.

The I-M leaders deny they collect taxes at gunpoint. But they confirm taxation is part of the movement.

“A section of the people may dispute our right to tax - but about 90 percent support us,” says the commander-in-chief, Gen. Hansi Ramsen. “It is taxation for the greater good - a contribution for the nation.”

Lt. Wungthing Zingkhai’s contribution was personal. He lost his eye during an encounter with Indian forces. Others’ scars are on the inside.

“Sir (Ramsen) ordered me to execute my friend,” recounts one young man. He speaks softly, playing with the AK-47 slung over his shoulder. His eyes are dark and wet.

He joined the I-M at 19. His best friend was sentenced to death after being caught extorting money for personal gain. Executions within the camp are not uncommon, he says, the punishment that awaits informants, rapists and disobedient soldiers.

Prisoner and executioner walked to an open field. The prisoner offered no resistance.

“Pray for my soul,” he said. "Don’t do what I did. This is what happens when you sin.

“Pray for my soul.”

The executioner looked away and pulled the trigger

If this is merely arguing the point - why did the OP resort to personal attacks on my level of education - which is surely irrelevant to the debate? Isn’t it like saying ’ well u would say that because u r black’ in response to criticism of racism in the other person’s argument. I never accused anyone of lying - just presenting a view that is solely negative.
If there were indeed personal attacks, they should not have been done.
RE: doctrine of subjugation of all people to Islam. U’ll find that such a doctrine is not alien to Christianity.

In the parable of the wedding feast (Luke 14:23) ‘And the master said to the servant, `Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled’ - was taken by the early Christians to justify forced conversions.
So what? This just means that Christians are not perfect. You have to show the doctrine.
Augustine himself approved of this intepretation of the text.
Source and context please.
Is that not the subjugation of all peoples to Christianity in principle.
Doctrinally no.
And in practice when Christianity became the state religion - where did all the pagans in Europe, the Americas, and Africa go after Christians came to their lands?
What of it?
The attitude that the whole world should be Christian is accepted in virtually every branch of Christianity.
Again, what of it? It is perfectly acceptable to believe the whole world should be converted to Catholicism. BUT, and this is most important, the Church teaches that the means to do this must be objectively morally acceptable. Meaning that there are objectively evil acts that we can never do even if it means converting the world, or even ensuring the Church’s survival. This is undisputed. What is in dispute here is whether there is anything in the spreading/defense of Islam that is absolutely off the table. Is there?

Now this may come as a surprise, but I reject the argument that Islam is as Islam does. What muslims do is important of course, BUT if Islam is doctrinally consequentialist (where Catholicism is most emphatically not), then all the talk of non-violence is certainly desirable and fine-sounding, but ultimately it is wind.

These statements are so very full of ignorance and prejudice.

People keep quoting what terrorists have done again and again in attempt to assert that all Muslims are terrorists. There is no logic here, face it.

People keep taking verses from the Qur’an (verses that most took off of hate websites rather than by actually reading the text, which is very peaceful in tone and quite beautiful, if you don’t already know) out of context to support their condemnation of Islam.

What’s more, many here are unwilling to accept the faults of the Church verses the faults of Islam. I HATE TO BREAK IT TO YOU, BUT WE’RE PRETTY MUCH TIED HERE:

The Crusades had a political goal in mind, not a religious one. It was a justification for killing those in a rival faith and a means by which the Church, then very much a secular authority, could obtain better trade. Christians have NEVER done well living side-by-side with non-Christians. They either oppress or convert. Jewish children were taken from their parents in order to “protect” them from the “lies” and have them properly baptized. What an infringement on basic liberty! Did it have good intentions? Sure. So do terrorists… Like it or not, blood was shed by men wielding banners with Jesus’ name upon them…

Besides, Islam is a newer religion than Christianity. It is not one of hate… not so at all. But as with any religion, there are the sensible and the not-so-sensible, those who follow rightly and those who pervert and distort for self-gain. Islam is evolving right now and making mistakes it will, like the Church, later come to regret, but these mistakes are by no means universal ones.

There are Muslims truly desiring peace, believe it or not. Our blindness is linked to our blatant refusal to forgive as Christ would have us to in order to clearly see…

I for one say that this is as good a time as any for some self-examination and first work on eliminating the terrorism and hate and bitterness we hold inside ourselves. If more did this, then there would be a better world.

Islam means surrender to God. Some are still trying to get there, but our hatred will never inspire one to draw closer to God or to become more willing to do as he would have us do… Never.

Pax! (I hope for this)

You hit the nail on the head! I wish and PRAY that the hatred will stop.

I challenge those that think ALL Musllims are terrorists or sympathetic to terrorists, to bring forth one quote from a Western political leader, or someone like the Pope, to show they believe the same - I have presented quotes from Bush and the Pope that make it clear they both recognize the efforts of, and appeal to the moderate Muslims, to continue the work and that we should help them.

Or to PLEASE look at the work of the many organizations in my original post – you all claim the Muslim world is not standing up against terrorism, yet you don’t spend the time to look what these organizations are doing. That’s just blind prejudice, please search out the truth. A prejudicial view of Islam will not solve anything, and history has proven it will only make things worse.

Peace and God bless.

It’s really sad that you can just brush off maybe 100 organizations and just say they are all made up. And to say “Islam will attack at the Chinese Olympics” is like saying a German Catholic started World War II.

You also ignore the quotes from our President, our Pope, and other leaders who have been quite clear that the terrorists are a minority and that moderate Islamic leaders and people exist and need to be aided as we share the same fight. To indict the entire Islamic worship community based on the acts of the terrorists is no different than indicting all Japanese Americans in WW II as spies, to indict all German Jews in WW II as insurgents, and to indict all Tutsis as traitors justifying genocide. All I can say is it is bigoted, prejudicial behavior, and those and every other case of prejudice against an entire religious or ethnic group in history has proven to be a wrongful and hateful act. How would you like to be indicted as guilty of acts because you share beliefs with someone who is a terrorist?

Here’s another article for you, although this kind of prejudice prevents people from reading and seeking the truth - Radical Islam vs. Islam. There is much of value in this article, but here is a snippet:
Maybe it’s going to take the loss of a friend or family member to terrorism like I have for this to sink in. I didn’t say they were made up. I said that their appeasements are simple, meaningless soundbites.

On Sept 11, I was working on a farm when the old farmer told me a plane hit the World Trade Center. I watched the television and saw the second plane hit the south tower not knowing my friends maid of honnor was on the flight. When the plane hit, I was amazed when I saw the face of Satan in the plume of smoke. I said to myself,“Wow”, I wonder if anybody else saw that? In a sheetrock company in my state, employees were watching the television in the cafeteria after the first plane hit the north tower. When they saw the second plane hit, all the Muslim’s applauded…over a hundred of them. They were all fired!

There is a big difference between indicting the Japanese and the Islamic radicals. Islam is an evil religion that wants to convert the planet and all of the worlds’ government’s to it… It is not an imperialistic regime.

My attitude is not bigoted because the Islam you see today, is the same Islam the world saw when Muhammed was around. The only difference is. Rather than pile up the skulls of those who do not convert outside the city gates like they did in Bagdag…90,000 skulls. They will simply use the most abominable means known to man…nuclear, biological, chemical weapons to kill millions in the name of allah.

I simply made a prediction about Islam, the US and China. I’m not a prophet…I simply have the common sense to know better than to accept Islam as a peaceloving religion.

You may want to listen to the Pope and Bush again, your not getting the rest of the story.

At 1.5 billion strong worldwide, just one percent of Muslim’s is enough to bring the world to an end considering the evil and horrific means they want to use to convert you to Islam.
You may not have read the end of Revelation 18 where John wrote,

Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
I will stand my ground against Islam and pray my country bans their religion from US soil.

And you are quite misled to believe what you do and the events to come will prove you wrong and hopefully you will see the truth about the evils of Islam and not lose a friend or family member in the process.

PS. I don’t think anybody here said that all Muslim’s are terrorist. But I will say that… Not all Muslim’s are terrorist. But all terrorist are Muslim’s!

Again, you have not researched what has been said, done, and corroborated by our own government. Calling them sound bites is just a prejudiced position.

On Sept 11, I was working on a farm when the old farmer told me a plane hit the World Trade Center. I watched the television and saw the second plane hit the south tower not knowing my friends maid of honnor was on the flight. So does this say all 1.5 billion Muslims feel the same way? Isn’t that the exact definition of prejudice. assuming the actions of a few are the beliefs of ALL?

There is a big difference between indicting the Japanese and the Islamic radicals. Islam is an evil religion that wants to convert the planet and all of the worlds’ government’s to it… It is not an imperialistic regime.

You missed the point - people get scared and indict an entire ethnic group or religion. You are uninformed about what many of these organizations are doing, yet you indict them all.

My attitude is not bigoted because the Islam you see today, is the same Islam the world saw when Muhammed was around. The only difference is. So give me a quote - again I ask you to back up your claim that they believe that ALL of Islam are terrorists or sympathetic.

At 1.5 billion strong worldwide, just one percent of Muslim’s is enough to bring the world to an end considering the evil and horrific means they want to use to convert you to Islam.

I have not seen any proof of your points from our government - that ALL Muslims and their religion are evil. Where is your proof? This is why I call this a bigoted prejudicial position that won’t solve anything.

Wow what a horrible thing to say. What about the KKK? The terrorists that have killed students at Columbine? And Virginia Tech? Do a Google on Christian terrorists and you’ll find quite a few reports…like India…

It’s sad you want to debate instead of searching for truth. You have said some horrible non-Christian things that you only have your own opinion as backup. And you think if everyone shared your opinion the world would be a better place? Is this “love your neighbor”?

Osama Bin Laden?

So my advice to al-Masari, al-Faqih, Bin Laden, and all those who traverse their way is to leave alone this disastrous path, and to fear Allah and to beware of His vengeance and His anger, and to return to guidance and to repent to Allah for what has preceded from them…"

Shaykh Abdul-Aziz Bin Baz

Those who set off the explosions in the Kingdom admitted with their own mouths, that they were affected by the Jamaa’atut-Takfir (one of the Egyptian Qutbist groups) and that they were from the group of Osama Bin Laden and al-Masari, and they were spreading their literature. Osama Bin Laden - who taught this man? Who educated him about the Shariah (Islamic laws)? He is a businessman, this is his field of specialization… they admitted, as we said, with their own mouths, we saw it and read it in the newspapers, and I have it here with me recorded with their own voices, that they were affected by some of the people of takfir (from the Qutbist groups) of Afghanistan.

awalt,

Maybe you should look at what Walid Shoebat has to say. I’m sure your Muslim friends know who he is. There is an Islamic bounty on his head. He is a former Palestinian terrorist converted to christianity and well verse in Islam and bible prophecy. He has an extensive web site directed mostly to Muslim’s. Some are called “Answering Islam” and, “Allah, divine or demonic”. and, “Dear Muslim, let me tell you why I believe”. Type that in a search engine and see what you get.

Your government is as currupt as Islam. They suppress the truth to prevent mass hysteria as well as being “politically correct”.
you should know that!

First, I know no one personally who is Muslim.

Second, how in your mind does citing some other person prove that all Muslims are terrorist-sympathetic?

Third, you don’t have the decency to retract the comment that all terrorists or Islamic?

And now you don’t believe the US Government, the Pope, or anyone else for that matter that disagrees with you? OK, I can live with that - we all know where you stand and I pray that extremists on both sides of this issue come around. God bless and I’ll pray for you.

This is what the bible say’s about Muslim’s and the Islamic anti-christ, or the “Mahdi”. This is the Islam Christ will destroy!

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

[Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

**And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that **they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Where specifically does it say that Christ will destroy all the Islamic people and that they are all terrorists?

So I’m done with you would you like me to teach you how to debate before I stop talking to you;)

Thank you. I was done with you on September 11, 20001!

I’m waiting for all of the Grand Muftis, and Mullahs and Ayatollahs and Islamic Scholars of any consequence to go on Al Jazeera and tell the faithful, in their own languages:

-That to harm Jews is hateful to Allah, and is a serious sin.
-That to harm Christians is hateful to Allah, and is a serious sin.
-That anyone who kills another who converted FROM Islam will go to hell.
-That all suicide bombers who killed noncombatants are in hell.
-That the 911 assassins are in hell.
-That all civil disabilities of non-Muslims everywhere must be abolished.
-That all religions should be allowed to freely practice in Saudi Arabia and every other Muslim country, and that they will issue fatwas against the salvation of Muslims in any country where it is not allowed, until it is allowed.
-That to beat one’s wife is sinful, deserving of hell…
-That “honor killing” is sinful, deserving of hell.
-That killing homosexuals just because they are homosexuals is sinful, deserving of hell.
-That it is sinful to attend at any mosque where the preacher does not teach the same.
-That it is sinful to worship at Mecca unless one truly accepts the above in his heart, and that one who makes the pilgrimage but does not accept the above, is guilty of blasphemy against Allah.

And to repeat the performance, oh, let’s say bi-monthly until their followers accept it.

I would be impressed with that, and believe that Islam is a peaceful religion. It would likely take something like that to put an end to Islamic terrorism, and I’m sure they know it. Why, then, don’t they?

I agree, I was just getting back on to say that I am not going to reply to Special Ed any more because he’s clearly not interested in responding to points made in an open dialogue, it’s just a disruptive series of statements with no backup, which doesn’t let anyone conclude anything.

I might suggest Ed that if you really are Catholic and respect the teachings of the bishops and Pope, you might want to read the CDF’s latest Doctrinal Note (approved by the Pope), “On Some Aspects of Evangelization”. Near the end it says “…Catholics must enter into a **respectful **dialogue of **charity **and truth, a dialogue that is not only an exchange of ideas, but also of gifts…”

I really posted my OP to present information and get constructive comment. You seem incapable of that, but through the thread I have certainly received some corroboration of ideas, so thanks all for that. I really do pray that the moderates and those who have love and charity in their hearts will work together to eliminate murder and terrorism from the planet. .

So much of this debate is simply useless.

Awalt, I think that you are sincere in believing the best of people. Sincere and DELUSIONAL. You should truly educate yourself about Islam (especially the history of Jihad-Imperialism and the history of the Dhimmis under Islamic rule) before you go off and make grand pronouncements about their peacefulness and ecumenism.

All of this blah, blah, blah about muslims renouncing violence and terrorism. Try this experiment (if it were possible) Get a muslim to stand on any street corner in Riyadh, Damascus, Cairo, Islamabad and start preaching about how Islam “renounces terrorism,” see how long he manages to stay alive.

Pronouncements like this simply go against the demonstrable facts, as well as the pronouncements of muslims themselves, who constantly blather on about muslim supremacism and sharia and Jew-and Christian hating.

This kind of blatant (delusional) prevarication is certainly not helpful. Muslims will simply take advantage of your naivete to further their nefarious agenda.

It IS NOT HATE that motivates anti-muslims, but the TRUTH that at some point, we must decide whether to surrender or defend our faith from islamic heathenism and barbarism.

Please learn the difference.

Santiago Matamoros, pray for us.
St, Alphonso, pray for us.
Holy Martyrs, killed in battle with the muslims, pray for us.

Long Live the Christian Falange !
