Islamically, could Gabriel be Satan!

I’m researching the behaviour of Gabriel in Islam according to some hadiths, and I found that there are some authentic references from Quran & Hadith describing the actions of Gabriel as Satanic actions.

Firstly, here is a verse from Quran which describes that Satan himself revealed some text of Quran to Muhammed (and Muhammed didn’t know that):
(Quran 22.52):
Never did We send a messenger or a prophet before thee, but, when he framed a desire, Satan threw some (vanity) into his desire: but Allah will cancel anything (vain) that Satan throws in, and Allah will confirm (and establish) His Signs: for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom:

Commentary for (Quran 22:52):
And We did not send before you any messenger (rasūl) — this is a prophet who has been commanded to deliver a Message — or prophet (nabī) — one who has not been commanded to deliver anything — but that when he recited [the scripture] Satan cast into his recitation, what is not from the Qur’ān, but which those to whom he [the prophet] had been sent would find pleasing. The Prophet (s) had, during an assembly of the [men of] Quraysh, after reciting the [following verses from] sūrat al-Najm, Have you considered Lāt and ‘Uzzā? And Manāt, the third one? [53:19-20] added, as a result of Satan casting them onto his tongue without his [the Prophet’s] being aware of it, [the following words]: ‘those are the high-flying cranes (al-gharānīq al-‘ulā) and indeed their intercession is to be hoped for’, and so they [the men of Quraysh] were thereby delighted. Gabriel, however, later informed him [the Prophet] of this that Satan had cast onto his tongue and he was grieved by it; but was [subsequently] comforted with this following verse that he might be reassured [of God’s pleasure]: thereat God abrogates, nullifies, whatever Satan had cast, then God confirms His revelations. And God is Knower, of Satan’s casting of that which has been mentioned, Wise, in His enabling him [Satan] to do such things, for He does whatever He will.
Code:
**Secondly,** the force that was used by Gabriel when he met Muhammed in the cave:
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3:
“The Prophet added, “The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, ‘I do not know how to read.’ Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, ‘I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)?’ Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, 'Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists) has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous.” (96.1, 96.2, 96.3) Then Allah’s Apostle returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, “Cover me! Cover me!” They covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened and said, “I fear that something may happen to me.” …”
(E) (A).

Thirdly, the revelation on Muhammed was very hard per this hadith:
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Number 2:
(the mother of the faithful believers) Al-Harith bin Hisham asked Allah’s Apostle “O Allah’s Apostle! How is the Divine Inspiration revealed to you?” Allah’s Apostle replied, “Sometimes it is (revealed) like the ringing of a bell, this form of Inspiration is the hardest of all and then this state passes ’ off after I have grasped what is inspired. Sometimes the Angel comes in the form of a man and talks to me and I grasp whatever he says.” 'Aisha added: Verily I saw the Prophet being inspired Divinely on a very cold day and noticed the Sweat dropping from his forehead (as the Inspiration was over).
(E) (A).

Fourthly, in the following hadith Muhammed said that the bell is an instrument of Satan, and Muhammed in the hadith (in my third point) said “Sometimes it is (revealed) like the ringing of a bell”.
Sahih Muslim, Book 024, Number 5279:
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The bell is the musical instrument of the Satan.
(E) (A).

Fifthly, in the following hadith Muhammed said that Angels do not accompany travellers who have bells, then why Gabriel was making sounds of bells (as shown in my third point) !
Sahih Muslim, Book 024, Number 5277:
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Angels do not accompany the travellers who have with them a dog and a bell.
(E) (A).

Could? How about is?

The accounts of Muhammad’s “revelations” sounds eerily similar to some accounts of demon possession found in the Bible.

*“And one of the multitude answered and said, ‘Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; 18And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.’” *(Mark 9:17-18)

could Gebril be satan ? 🤷

so tell me , why satan will insert this verse

16-94 So when you want to recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one).

16-94 So when you want to recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one).
Because, as Paul the Apostle said,
*
“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”* (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

Sure! - to lead people astray.

If you read in the Bible, Acts 16:16-18, there was a girl following the apostles around saying they should listen to them, but she was, in fact, possessed by a demon.
Now it came to pass as we were going to the place of prayer that a girl met us who possessed a divining spirit and brought her masters much profit by soothsaying. She followed Paul and ourselves and kept crying out, saying “These men are servants of the most hight God and they proclaim to you a way of salvation.” This she did for many days; until Paul, being very much grieved, turned and said to the spirit, “I order thee in the name of Jesus Christ to go out of her.” And it went out that very moment.
This was a devil, attempting to lead people astray by saying “a” way of salvation (not “the” way of salvation.) But, on the surface, people would think it was leading people to God.

Some people do indeed claim that the Qur’an was the work of the devil. Let us examine how much sense (or non-sense) this allegation makes.

If he authored or inspired the Qur’an, why would Satan curse himself and call himself the worst enemy of man?

Verily Satan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents, that they may become Companions of the Blazing Fire. (Al-Qur’an 35:6)

Did I not enjoin on you, O ye Children of Adam, that ye should not worship Satan; for that he was to you an enemy avowed?- (Al-Qur’an 36:60)

Why would Satan command that before reciting the Qur’an, one must first say:

**“…I seek refuge in God from Satan the accursed.” ** (Al-Qur’an 16:98)

How could Satan so vehemently condemn himself? Is it really acceptable to common sense to hold the view that Satan would ask people to do good, to be moral and virtuous, to worship none but God, to not follow Satan or his whispers, and to avoid and struggle against evil?

To hold such a view is clearly repugnant to reason, as Satan has only undermined himself through this means if he is the author. Even the Bible attests:

“And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.” (Mark 3:26)

This argument applies to any “Satanic forces”, be they “evil spirits”, “deceitful aliens”, etc.

Because, as stated above in Corinthians, Satan masquerades himself as an angel of light to deceive people and lead them from the truth.

Of course he’s not going to say “worship Satan” - that’s ridiculous, who would fall for that? All he needs is that people take their eyes off of the one true God, and the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That is enough.

Don’t Christians believe in the truth of the following Biblical verse?

“And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.” (Mark 3:26)

If you say that you do believe it to be true, then how does this reconcile with what you have quoted in Corinthians?

For the Love of God, read the whole thing and you will understand Jesus message.

**23So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?

24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

26And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.

27In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house.

28I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them.

29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin.” **

What he said.

Additionally, there is also the fact that Satan is not casting out Satan in the Qur’an. It is a ploy to deceive people, he is indeed strengthening his own kingdom.

I have indeed read this passage that you have posted… and I really do not see how it contradicts the point that that I was making about Mark 3:26.

but pagans were allready astray , why did he waste his time with them , and call them to worship one God

i can accept that satan may lead people who worship one God to make them worship status
but the plane differed here , he start with pagans and lead them to worship one God !!!

wow , how you have such thoughts people , don’t let your hatred blind your rational and logic

Because from their Pagan lands Islam moved into Christian lands.

Mohammed was most certainly a false prophet. He either made it all up, or was guided by Satan. To be honest I think there is a little of both (The prohibition of Alcohol and the story surrounding that sounds like he was just pissed off by people getting drunk).

Why would he start with the Christians? If he can get the pagans to believe in his lies and denial of Jesus’ Crucifixion, he would increase his numbers and make it easier to lead Christians astray. (The whole, "All these people believe it so it must be right. All these people can’t be wrong. etc. etc.)

(And BTW, I have no hatred for anyone. I feel bad for those who have been taught error and who have accepted error, but I certainly don’t hate them. :hug1: )

Thanks to Sam for giving us the chance to clear some debris. I will start off with Sam first. I have seen all posts and I find that Hamba and elwil have given right guiding answers to the Catholics. But Catholics are bent upon being ignorant. I fully support the posts of Hamba and elwill.

Please read that above verse carefully. It speaks of many or all prophets before Muhammad. So if satan interfered with any revealtion then he must have interfered with all revelation before Muhammad, i.e. to Abraham and Moses and all other Israeli prophets including Jesus.

Also note in the verse that Allah does no allow the wrong words of Satan (the insertions) to stand. Allah confirms His own words and signs and wipes out the insertions of the satan.

So forget about any insertions of the devil being found in any sacred book.

As Jay said, hatred isn’t an issue here. There is love for the erring and hatred only for the error. As Nine_Two said, the rise of Islam moved into Christian lands - before then, the Arabs of the desert didn’t bother too much outside of skirmishes, and most cultures considered them people who simply lived beyond their borders. In any case, the Islamic teachings given by “Gabriel” contradicted and in fact condemned the beliefs of Christianity and those beliefs taught and passed down by Christ and His apostles. So from a Christian perspective, that is reason enough to believe in demonic deception (in addition to the actions of “Gabriel” as outlined by the OP).

I am suddenly reminded of a quote by St. Maximos the Confessor (the fellow in my avatar 😃 ) regarding a warning about demons and their supposed “spirituality.”

When the demons attack us invisibly in the guise of spiritual friendship, pretending that they want to accomplish the death of sin by means of which in themselves are good, and when they say, “Let us build with you the temple of your Lord,” would that we might always reply, “You cannot share with us in the building of the house for the Lord our God; we alone will build for the Lord of Israel” (1 Esd. 5:70-71). Third Century on Theology, 78]

And another, actually, by St. Peter of Damascus, regarding why some people believe that demonic activity is godly activity.

There is nothing astonishing in the fact that the devil assumes the form of “an angel of light” (II Cor. 11:14), for the thoughts that he sows in us also appear to be righteous when we lack experience. [Book II, Chapter IX]

And yet another by Evagrios the Solitary.
Take care that the crafty demons do not deceive you with some vision; be on your guard, turn to prayer and ask God to show you if the intellection comes from Him and, if it does not, to dispel the illusion at once. Do not be afraid, for if you pray fervently to God, the demons will retreat, lashed by His unseen power. You should be aware of this trick: at times the demons split into two groups; and when you call for help against one group, the other will come in the guise of angels and drive away the first, so that you are deceived into believing that they are truly angels. On Prayer, 94-95]

Also note in the verse that Allah does no allow the wrong words of Satan (the insertions) to stand. Allah confirms His own words and signs and wipes out the insertions of the satan.

Then the same thing should apply to the Bible…🙂
It is useless to quote any hadith to prove your false argument. We will proceed further with your bible soon.
Sorry, I forgot that you are following Ahmadiyya religious movement (i.e., don’t believe hadith). 😉
This is useless argument always put up by Catholics to denounce the very first revelation to Muhammad. There was no damage or danger to Muhammad. Then angel Gabriel kept on coming for the next 23 years. Did he ever harm Muhammad?? Not at all.
Not harming him, but Muhammed was not comfortable whenever he received the revelation.
Bell is symbol of the christians. It is an instrument of the devil, atop all churches. Would you believe that?? The Prophet Muhammad had condemned all musical instruments in general.
Irrelevant, because Islam is the one who is mentioning that about the bells.
I tell you something. You christians think very highly of your religion. In christianity, Jesus said any one who looks upon a lady with lust (bad intentions) has committed sex with her and Jesus told every one not to have bad looks (with lust) on ladies.
But islam teaches not to look at all. Not with good intentions and not with bad intentions. So compare the good teachings of both religions. Which one is superior??
Irrelevant again, this is not the topic of this thread!

Maybe this sounds silly, but sometimes I really think Satan would try to repent to God in one way or another (knowing what’s waiting for him at the end), he is a crafty angel (as mentioned in the Bible), so don’t you think that he wouldn’t try all his best to avoid that!, and one way of doing that is by establishing new religions, so he can argue with God in the judgement day.

Maybe he would tell God see how many prophets you sent to the human beings, even you sent your Word and your Holy Spirit, and yet I managed to bring more people to you through my ways, don’t I deserve your forgiveness for that…

An idle mind is the devil’s playground.

Spending a bit of our time thinking on matters of faith is good… but too much thinking is an open invitation to the devil to enter one’s mind.

And so folks, when in doubt about matters of faith, we need to refer to our scriptures for the answers, NOT to ponder and conjure up wild thoughts in our minds.
