Now about your opening post, do you believe that devil (Satan) will tell Muhammad that Gabriel gave the good news to Mary of a an illustrous son?? That is written in the Quran. Mary was much surprised. There was a dialogue between Mary and Gabriel. Do you believe that dialogue was between Mary and Satan??

WE believe that dialogue was between Mary and angel Gabriel. We believe that Satan never came near to Mary or Jesus or Muhammad. What do you say??

It seems to me there is a big difference between Angel Gabriel in the Bible and angel Gabriel in Islam.

One example that angel Gabriel in Islam used force with Muhammed, while in the Bible Angel Gabriel was very kind with Mary:

Forget that. Try to remember the dialogue mentioned in the Quran between Gabriel and Mary. Was that also from Satan?? It is all described and revealed to Muhammad by the angel Gabriel. Do you believe that it was revealed by Satan?? That Mary will have a grown up, gracious son.

I inform you about that news of the birth of a son described in the Quran. People think that it was the good news of a baby boy. That is not so in Quran. It is the news of a grown up man who will have certain qualities… It is not the news about a child.

It is not the news about the child only. But it is a news of his wonderful life as a grown up person. People get too much involved in discussion as to how a child will be born without the agency of husband. That is not the problem at all in that good news. The birth of a son without husband is not the subject discussed in the Quran.

Satan will not give such good beautiful news. Catholics believe that satan took Jesus around (tempted him) for Forty (40) days. We Muslims do not believe that. We do not believe that Devil tempted Jesus or his mother.

So, Islamically, Gabriel could never be Satan! Gabriel is mentioned in the bible too. It is same Gabriel. If the gabriel described in Quran is satan then the Gabriel described in your bible will also be Satan.

The Quran wouldn’t include Jesus’ temptation if it (the Quran) was inspired by Satan because certainly Satan wouldn’t want to emphasize or bring light to his defeats. It probably galls Satan that Jesus would not fall to his temptations.

In another thread I made the joke (crosses himself three times forgive me Lord, I say this to condemn heresy) that if the Gabriel of Islam was the same Gabriel as Christianity, then he would have drop-kicked the Virgin Mary when she pondered how she was to give birth.

wwolverine, according to Quran, angel Gabriel is the holy spirit. It is written in Quran that Jesus was helped, aided, strengthened, supported by the holy spirit. Holy Spirit is not God. It is a worker or servant of God.

Its duty is to deliver messages (divine guidance) to all messengers of God. So messengers are gifted and guided by the agency of Holy Spirit. So the messengers know what to say and what to do at all times.

I sure these were covered by the true Muslim posters but:

   The Qur’an, seek Allah’s protection from Satan the Rejected One.”

It does not make sense

1. In sura 7 vs 200 "If a suggestion from Satan assail your (mind),
   seek refuge with Allah; for He hears and knows (all things).

Why would he ask you to seek refuge in God from himself.

1. In sura 2 vs 168 and in Sura 36 vs 60 he calls himself an enemy.

I just don’t see it. The Jewish authorities in Matt 12:24 said almost the same thing about Jesus.

In my opinion which does not count for much Gabriel is Not Satan. Peace to all.

Thank you Tony. If any one read verses 16:93 to 16:100, it will be clear that it is an advice to all believers. Included is the one verse you mentioned i.e. 16:98. Quran is a book full of great wisdom. Yet it has to be interpretted wisely. Same for bible or any book of law.

People (Muslims) can easily be misguided even by the recitation of the Quran. So Allah advised all Muslims to seek refuge with HIm before reciting Quran from the cursed devil (Satan).

You are right. Why would Satan himself reveal such thing i.e. to seek refuge with Allah from the cursed Satan?? It does not make sense. Therefore, Gabriel is not Satan. Gabriel is a blessed angel, i.e. a spirit from God, as it is explicitly written elsewhere in the Quran. It is also mentioned as the Holy Spirit.

Same is true of all the rest of your post. It makes matters short if one reflects **(thinks) **upon the scripture and supports the truth. In those cases, the person advances towards complete truth and progresses very much. He/she, in the end becomes very near to God.

If he/she rejects the truth (that he/she may have seen) then he/she will not be given any more truth.

You have rightly deduced that Gabriel is not Satan and vice versa. Some friends write to me but I cannot clearly understand what they want to convey. I beg pardon. I liked your post because it is full of wisdom.
