Islam's population growth in USA

This started off as a tangent from another thread. Since I was told there is a rapid conversion rate to Islam in the United States right now I asked for some statistics. I haven’t been able to find a lot of numbers yet myself, but I went ahead and posted this mainly for reference anyway. If anyone has more info that may be helpful, feel free to add it here.

I thought this would be a good place to start. This is one of my favorite websites for religious population info all over the world, and it has a whole lot of interesting statistics. The link posted above specifically discusses the largest religious groups in the United States. However, the most recent data here seems to be from 2002.

some muslims count ‘conversions’ as muslim parents whose kids finally accept the islamic faith at 8-12 years old plus. there isn’t a huge growth of the islamic population in the USA (except maybe immigration and ‘reverts’), that is another islamic myth which they like to use to have you believe that Islam is the ‘true’ faith.

Guys. This number thing is really going no where . Muslism christians , all of us .

I dont care if muslims were 500,000 in the US really . Or 50 million. I just hope every body is happy .

I agree with you. It’s just that the claim was made to me, and I wanted to be able to continue that discussion without derailing the thread it first appeared on. But you’re right, the numbers aren’t important either way.

The fastest growing religion in the US

I was wondering if anyone had done a study that would show how many pagans there were in the US. In doing a web search I came across a site for the City Univeristy of New York. This site showed the results of one the most comprehensive surveys of religion in the US. They had performed the survey in 1990 and again in 2001. The changes in the numbers of adherents to the various faiths in the US were extremely interesting.

Christians showed about a 0.05% growth in numbers, but a 9% decrease in percentage of the total population.

Muslims showed an impressive 109% growth during that time.

However, the survey showed that between 1990 and 2001 there was a 1675% growth in PAGANISM!!! 1675%!!! The number of pagans went from about 35,000 to over 550,000!

This kind of growth is incredible - and the thing that makes it most impressive is pagans don’t seek converts!! You’ll never see a pagan missionary or have them knock on your door to give you pamphlets. Pagans don’t try to find converts - the converts seek out the pagans!

I doubt there has ever been this kind of phenomenal growth of a non- proselytizing religion in history before. Religions that use missionaries and/or force people to convert by threat of violence have probably had this kind of growth before, but a religion that makes no effort to convert people has probably never had this happen before!
(This is just a guess though).

If this growth rate was to continue, (which I don’t believe it possibly could), the entire US would be pagan in under 40 years.

In Islam, theres nothing more evil and threatening to society than paganism and athiesm. Atleast christianity adhere to morals and trys to apply the previous scripture, and in an Islamic society they would be allowed to worship in their churches, but not so with pagans. Monothiesm is the religion of God, and Paganism is the religion of the devil.

You know that the apostates in islam are paying with their life, for leaving islam, many are suffering for that. It isn´t a new thing.
