Isn't casting lots equivalent to using oracles or tarot cards and a ques about the succession of apostles

Sorcery is forbidden. Random chance generation devices are not.
 
Drawing lots. This is something I have never considered in the bible.
I would never use Tarot cards. However, I think we do a similar thing when we use symbols such as numbers and alphabet to give the mind and spirit some kind of intuitive foothold. Although, numbers and alphabet are neutral until we organize a sequence and assign a meaning. Tarot cards have a meaning that was given by the people who created them. Tarot cards appears to have a negative connotation or at least a very low level spirit and not Christian.
St. Francis opened the bible to random pages so that he could know the will of God for the formation of his order.
What is the difference when we ask God for a sign? Probably intention and the context for the sign and hopefully we are asking for God’s blessing.

The Chinese have a thing called I Ching that involves a series of random coin tosses. This may be the origin or result of something from ancient mysticism.
