Me and three or four others gather after Mass to say the Rosary. We usually follow a leaflet that has a small meditation concerning the mysteries that we are going to pray that day. Each one of us takes a turn reciting the specific decade to a point and the others say the rest of the Our Father or Hail Mary.

The problem I have is I find it hard to personally concentrate on the mystery when I am trying to recite and keep track of the number of Hail Marys. i find I am just keeping the prayer in my mind and not the meditation on the mystery Does anyone else find that this is a problem when reciting the Rosary with a group? If so, how do you handle it?

That’s why I use the Rosary beads 😃 I move to each one when the Hail Mary starts and I say the first part quietly to myself. So basiclly, when I’m in the group setting, I do pray the entire Rosary myself.

Hope this helps and God Bless.

I do. I just assume it will come in time. The ability to keep track and meditate simultaneously. that is. I just keep trying everyday I pray the rosary.

I have heard prayer likened to a child’s art ability. Through getting older and practicing a child’s art gets better. But no parent ever gets that painting or drawing for the first time from the child who is young and just starting out and says “this is ****!” They smile and say…“how wonderful!” “tell me about it!”

That is totally God and our prayer life. Just taking the time to try will produce results. Even realizing you need to work on your prayer life is a grace, and God rewards those who persevere. So keep going.

Plus the Holy Ghost does all the work in our prayer anyway. We just open ourself up to Him and He takes it and runs with it.😉

When we are praying any prayer with others and it comes our turn to recite the prayers our participation alone is meditation enough. The others take up the slack, so to speak, as we do our spiritual duty of reciting aloud. Don’t worry about meditating when you are the one reciting for the others. Their prayers/meditation add to your recitation and so it is the same as if you meditated as well. 🙂

Thank you for this information. It makes sense.

it’s why praying in a group, we take turns praying a decade, to allow the others to focus more intently on the mysteries while they can depend on us as their guide through the prayers.

Personally, I don’t like praying the Rosary in a group. Most of the Rosary Prayer groups I’ve experienced in the past, pray way too fast.

But each has to decide for themselves.

Our group does not hurry through the Rosary. We take our time-reverently

You are especially blessed to lead others in the rosary. This is not the problem you think it is.
You have a special part, leading others in prayer.
You are receiving blessings, not to worry.
Our Lady is pleased.
Peace.

Thanks, I was kinda worried about the meditation part, but I can’t lead and keep track and meditate at the same time. When I say the Rosary individually, then I meditate on each mystery.
