Issue with Mother-in-law

You’re fortunate your parents didn’t nominate you for “What Not To Wear!” LOL I wouldn’t mind getting for new clothing, but having everyone in the country see my pathetic current wardrobe would give me enough shame to last the rest of my life = I’d turn down the gift.

Thank goodness there was no such thing back then!! The monthly amount was a only a fraction of than, but still incredibly difficult to spend. At the time I was a stay-at-home mom, who had been working recently enough to still have way more clothing than I needed; the requirement to get more for me, when I had children rapidly outgrowing clothes and needing a large amount for each new season, was tough.

At the time I was a stay-at-home mom, who had been working recently enough to still have way more clothing than I needed; the requirement to get more for me, when I had children rapidly outgrowing clothes and needing a large amount for each new season, was tough.

I would to this day rather shop for my sons than for myself. I got used to putting myself on the back burner while they were growing up, and being a mom who didn’t work outside the home, I had no need for a working wardrobe. Gradually all of my previous working wardrobe was discarded or outgrown.

At one point, I had 2 opposite ends of the fashion spectrum - very casual, comfortable clothing for most of my real life, and very formal evening dresses b/c the company my husband worked for would throw annual formal Christmas parties! The contrast was quite amusing, and we have a saying around here for seeing a woman dressed up when she is normally not, “Why, you clean up real good!” That is what a lot of people probably thought when they saw me dressed up and going out for the Christmas party…

Shopping for clothing is torture for me and I am sure that I would be one of those people who would cry on camera during the taping of that show.

My Mother in Law died this year after having known her for 30 years; the best relationship was to be had by all; including one another in family get togethers, family functions, a chat here and there, tuning out with all negatives, not hurting one another, putting one’s self in their shoes (back when they were growing up feeling compassion for their Soul), keeping busy in our relationship with Jesus and Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus as our primary focus, being out and about as much as possible assisting others which should decrease the amount of time spent in your Mother-in-Law’s company, perhaps only on Sunday’s and a brief chat once a week.

I used to thank my Mother-in-Law despite the odd insults that she never really had intended (just feeling a little insecure at the time). She had a much harder Childhood than God has Blessed me with and I never turned my back on her; just kept busy and caught up every now and then until she became extremely ill a few years ago; we all nursed her taking it in turns and prayed to Jesus and Our Lady Mary regularly for her; every prayer answered, Praise be to Thee Dear Jesus Christ our Saviour and Dear Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus now and for Eternity.

I wish that more time had been spent with her; we all miss her dearly.
