the Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn has the best and most complete explanation of that last word of Christ that I have ever seen. In short, the life-giving sacrifice, begun at the Last Supper, has been completed and Jesus “gives up His spirit” and dies. Jesus has completed the work His Father sent Him to accomplish.
