Is is okay for a priest to acknowledge anniversaries during Mass? Our priest take the microphone and goes down into the “audience” to the folks with wedding anniversaries and has them say how long they’ve been married, then we collectively say a blessing over them with raised hands. Doesn’t canon law say that we aren’t to bring attention to anybody during Mass? He’ll also mention birthdays from the altar at the tail end of Mass, but before we’re dismissed. Thank you!
