My understanding that the Juventus and Inter etc will play without spectators in the stadiums. Just broadcast on tv.

Japan has cancelled its marathon, and these people are preparing for the Olympics.

You don’t believe the news because you don’t like the messenger?

Is it possible that the football/soccer did not need to be cancelled by law because it was already being cancelled by self-regulation?

My son follows Italian soccer. Games have been played but without spectators, just televised.

As for mass, it seems to be the dioceses decision.

A quick check of two sources (CNN and French sports Web site L’Équipe [« reporté » means “postponed”]) indicates that four matches were postponed last weekend.

I did read on L’Équipe that the FIGC has made a formal request to “the authorities” to allow future matches to be played behind closed doors (meaning no spectators), but I don’t know exactly who these authorities are nor why only five of the ten scheduled matches this weekend will go ahead under these conditions. (At least one of remaining matches has been postponed.)

You picked a messenger from the very bottom of the barrel. The lowest of the lowest rungs as far as journalistic standards are concerned. I’d believe the National Enquirer before I’d believe anything he wrote. He just makes stuff up to suit his political agenda. You really have to improve you quality of news sources.

That is the same with Hong Kong racing atm.
The public is not allowed in. Connections are, but all wearing masks.

There is one news report that the pet dog of someone with the virus has also tested positive for the virus…stay tuned on this one.

The one that was going to be this summer in Japan? Yeah right.
Is there another? Why the ‘yeah right’ response?
Without some miraculous intervention, they’re going to end up cancelling.

75% of the world has limited means of handling a pandemic.

What “news?” “You” posted an editorial from some blog. The actual news sites say that “sports” matches are being closed and it is the diocese that is stopping Mass.

Feb 22 (Reuters) - Serie A soccer matches in the northern Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto will not be played on Sunday because of an outbreak of the coronavirus, the government said in a statement.
The three impacted fixtures are clashes between Inter Milan and Sampdoria, Atalanta against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona against Cagliari. There was no indication of when the games might be rescheduled.
{Snip}.
Italy is tackling the worst outbreak of coronavirus yet recorded in Europe, with two people dying in the north since Friday and nearly 60 infected.
Looking to prevent the spread of the disease, the government has banned public events in the worst affected areas and shut schools and universities.
Please change the title of this thread. It is clearly wrong.
