Italian Olympics Ask Us To Imagine There’s No Religion Or Heaven?

Someone please tell me “Imagine” wasn’t sung at an Olympics in Italy. What a slap in the face to the Church?

I turned off the Olympics when Susan Sarandon came in holding the Olympic flag.

Imagine Lyrics:

Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No Hell below us
Above us only sky.

Imagine all the people
Living for today …

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace …

You, you may say I am a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world …

You, you may say I am a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one.

The Italians are merely asking that you “imagine” there is no heaven.

They’re not demanding that you “believe” there is no heaven.

I will pass on both, thank you. I am sure the ratings of their time-delayed Olympics fared fine without me. I’m as patriotic as the next man, but God comes before country.

I caught the same undertones from the Olympics as a whole!

I watched some of it and usually there is a lot more of the “surrounding cities” and “local places of interest” highlighted between events, etc. I saw no reference to Torino’s or Italy’s religious foundation during the tape-delay. I was disappointed. Some awesome moments during the opening ceremoney were not enough for not to catch the liberalism and humanism!

Most people would recognize the Shroud of “Turin”, but I mentioned “Torino” to several well formed catholics and they did not know it was same place!
