I’m going to Rome from April 21st to April 28th and was wondering if there were Italo-Greek Catholic parishes in the city. Thank you.

Pretty sure there aren’t any in Rome. The closest would be Grottoferrata, south of Rome (I think).

It is SAD that some of the most knowledgeable posters, Eastern Catholic even have been banished from this message board. Because I can think of one eastern catholic poster who was banned (without warning or public display) who could have answered this question in remarkable detail.

Fortunately this Eastern Catholic poster is still active in other message boards where his jovial nature, kind heart and remarkable intelligence are being put to good use.

AnthonyJ,

If you are referring to the Italo-Albanian Greek Church, then as Alexios mentioned, it looks like the Abbey of St. Mary in Grottaferrata is probably the closest you will get to the city of Rome (about 20 km south east of Rome).

Here is their website:

God bless,

As far as I know what has been offered by the previous posters is correct… But are you looking for IGC specificly or are you also wanting to know about other Greek Catholic communities too?

St. Athanasius Church at 149 Via del Babuino might be a good bet for an Italo-Greek parish Church.

In Italian it is called Sant’Atanasio a Via del Babuino or Sant’Atanasio dei Greci.

Thank you everryone. I would also be interested in other Greek/Byzantine Catholic parishes in Rome.

There’s the Russicum. It’s not Italo-Greek, obviously, but Slavic in practice. Would that matter?
