It isn’t fully developed? - Neither is a child.
It isn’t self-aware? - Neither is a newborn baby.
Doesn’t feel pain? - Embryos can feel pain at 8 weeks, but there are some adults who cannot feel pain at all (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congeni…tivity_to_pain)
Physically dependent? - So are conjoined twins.
Not alive? - There are varying definitions, but the common one uses 7 characteristics: homeostasis, organization, metabolism, response to stimuli, growth, reproduction, and adaptation. A zygote meets these criteria just as well as an infant.

If they mention that a baby under 6 weeks doesn’t have a heartbeat:
The heart starts beating at around 6 weeks, but does someone with an artificial heart cease to be human?

And you could ask:
What counts as human? What criteria do you use to determine whether something is human or not? Is it DNA? If so, as soon as the sperm implants the egg, the newly formed organism has a unique set of human DNA. Is it intelligence? If so, newborns are not human. Is it body structure? If so, amputees are not human.

If you mean the “day after pills”, then yes it is blurred.

I agree that our churches need to be firm on birth control in whatever form it takes.

And the church can continue to remain firm on abc. However, I don’t think there will be a major reduction in abc anytime soon. Instead, I think we need to get people to accept that the natural consequence of failed abc (or not using anything) is sometimes a baby.
