Just went to my third Confession ever in my life (joined Church this past Easter Vigil).
People describe Confession/Reconciliation as this sort of refreshing experience of having grace restored and hearing the words of absolution, but I still feel disappointed, evil, and sinful. And not for the right reason of having offended God, but just the yuck feeling of having sinned. I know by faith, though not sensible at the moment, God ultimately still loves me, and maybe this is like being grounded and rebuked by a parent.
Maybe some medicine is more bitter than others, and some Confessions leave different impressions on the psyche…?
