If the organist sings out of key but never feuds with the choir or ignores the liturgy committee, Father would probably count his blessings.
Note to organists: That was a joke. We know you are humble, dedicated, over-worked and under-paid people who get caught in the middle between the parishioners and the rest of the staff, and that you are working off Purgatory with both hands and both feet…as is poor Father, especially if he is one of those poor guys who are only too aware that only ordination made him into a soloist. Bless you all, you bloom where you are planted.
In the good old days, martyrdom was a lot quicker, and less excruciating. Oh, for the glamour days…
