Iāve told a select few about an incident in high school when I was abducted by aliens. But nobody believes me. Not even my wife. That is so hurtful.
Of course I am known amongst friends as a teller-of-tall-tales. Just to get them going and yank their chains.
I have one friend that is adamant there canāt be life on other planets. But I dunno about that.
When I was a kid, my friend Peter and I were (sort-of) fans of āThe Peopleās Gospel Hourā with pastor Perry F. Rockwood. Which was odd since we were both Methodists. But we were odd kids anyway.
Once Peter brought in to school the booklet āYouth Wants The Answersā.
Along with answers to such pressing questions like why the female gender should not wear pants and why we should only use the King James Bible, we learned there was definitely no life on other planets. Since God didnāt mention any in the (King James) Bible, it didnāt exist.
So that was that, I guess.
Of course I now believe that just because something is not in the Bible does not necessarily mean it is false. Otherwise there would be no pianos in church or in heaven. And we canāt have that now can we.
So I guess I canāt see why there canāt be life on other planets. In fact it might be kind of arrogant to assume that in a universe that is at least 10 billion light years big, that this third rock of the sun is the only place where God is doing anything.
But yet, the existence of life with souls elsewhere poses theological dilemmas?
Would God give these souls free will? If so what if they fell? Would God the son die on the cross (or whatever the execution method is) on an unlimited number of planets?
I have a hard time enough believing God the father would send God the son to die for the sins of one planet, let alone die several times for the sins of many planets. Unless of course somehow the death of God the son on earth is sufficient for the sins of an unknown race 5 billion light years away.
I guess I have no problems in theory believing in life elsewhere. But the existence of Klingons, Romulans, Darth Vadar, and The Borg would pose interesting questions.
This goes hand-in-hand with my idea pertaining to evolution. Youād think the Alpha and Omega, the great āI AMā, the almighty creator, would take into consideration the changing climate and conditions of the planet he created, and create life that would yield to and change with its surroundings. I mean, he MADE science! Heās the one who invented all that **** we havenāt even figured out yetā¦OF COURSE Heās smart enough to come up with evolution!!! To choose crazy monkey mutation over Godās master plan is just ludicrous!
