man, i love where i live…
its almost summer…
but today, its pretty cold for some reason (ah, global warming…lolz)
but yesterday and the day before…it was beginning to heat up…
aww…i would love it, if it snowed…where i lived!! i would honestly love a white christmas…

It hasn’t snowed here yet, but yesterday it smelled like snow on my way home, so we’ll probably get our first snowfall in a week or two. Winter here is very dry and windy, with just a smattering of dusty snow that doesn’t stick to anything and just blows around for a while.

Out of curiosity, can you tell by the smell of the air that it’s going to snow? I can, and I’m generally right. My students deny that snow smells like anything at all, because it’s just water, after all. I’m right, right? They just don’t get enough snow to recognize the smell.

Yes, I know that smell, too. 🙂

Yeah we had some minor flakes flying the other day too. Nothing that stuck, but I was excited. No warm climate can compete with the beauty of a fresh blanket of pure white snow and the quietness of it, before everyone comes out to plow that is…And what kind of Christmas can you have without snow? Come on now…

Y’all can keep your heat thank you VM.😛

I do wish the cold could at least wait until Nov. 1 so I can take the kids trick or treating without having to cover their costumes with big winter jackets.

**See, I would like to VISIT somewhere with lots of snow, especially for Christmas…but the rest of the year? You can have it all, lol.

Actually I take that back. I love snow. I hate COLD. It doesn’t have to be bone chilling, wind ripping through your skin cold in order to snow…

Yeah I agree, the below zero frostbite on your eyeballs type cold I can live without for sure:p .

I woke up this morning to 3 inches of accumulated snow and a snowsquall warning. It is pretty, to be sure, but it’s October! I’m definitely more agreeable to snow in say December or January (although by February I’m already sick of it and I’m halfway crazy by April…) Anyways, DH took a picture so I’ll try and post it later. Right now I’m tooo sick with a bad cold!

When I was a teenager in Vermont, I cold always tell when it was going to snow, by the height of the clouds and (yes) the smell.

Out here in Colorado, the indicators are totally different. Having done 10 years of weather briefing here, I know that the only thing that *usually *means some kind of precip is a high over Albuquerque, and a low over Iowa. We call that upslope, or “up-slop” for short, and you never know when it will arrive, and when it will depart.

We did get a few flakes a week or so ago, and had the heat on for a while. But this week it’s been Indian Summer. Maybe we’ll get pounded soon - but I don’t want a repeat of the week we were snowed in a few years ago.

But I have to confess, I miss those New England winters.

It’s snowing here.
Called DH to tell him (he’s in San Antonio). Know what he tells me? “It’s 70, and I paid 2.15 for gas!”

Got to love when the hubby’s are insensitive… good thing he’s far away, might be bad for his health to come home right now;)

:nunchuk: :snowing:
:rotfl: I LOVE the nunchuk guy!

It’s freezing here. Not quite literally, as the temp is 33.7 F (1 C), but still the coldest it’s been this fall. And it tried to snow last night, but we won’t speak of such awful things.

We had snow a few weeks ago so I can, with a clear conscience, tell you I am happy it is in the 60s here today. It was in the 40s when the kids got on the bus this morning, which was a welcome change from 20s and 30s.

Yes, New Mexico is in the United States.
Yes, it DOES snow in New Mexico.
Yes, we do have winter. Our seasons are: Gorgeous Summer, Balloon Fiesta, Winter, and Wind.
😃
Heh- better than Michigan. We have Almost Winter (now), Winter, Still Winter (April) and Road Construction.

We’ve had snow on Halloween before, back when I was 10 (so 17 years ago). I wouldn’t be suprised if it snowed again here, but it’s Indiana and you can’t tell what the whether is really going to do.

It’s been cold these last few days, do higher than mid-40’s, but they are forecasting tomorrow to be in the upper 60’s. I really hate global warming sigh JUST STAY ONE SEASON PLEASE! Stop going back and forth.

I made my kids Halloween costumes, and my daughters is purposely 1 size bigger to put sweats on under it. She probably won’t need that now.

I’ve lived here in Colorado, on the high plains, for nearly twenty years. In that time, I’ve seen snow on the ground on Labor Day, and on Columbus Day. I’ve been rained on out of a blue sky. I’ve seen golf-ball sized hail, and giant soft hail that someone described as “cow pies from the sky.” (The snowplows came out for that one - in August.) Oh, and 80 mph wind, and tornadoes, and all kinds of unusual clouds… And the snow usually comes sideways, with plenty of wind and drifts.

Every now and then, we get the kind of snow I love; big flakes sifting gently down and piling up… That’s what I miss most about Vermont. That and how quickly the snow plows get to everywhere!

Don’t like the weather in Colorado ? Wait a minute!

Ruthie, inside on another Indian Summer day.

In Maryland, every month is like its’ own season!
Dry January, snowy nor’easter February, rainy/windy March, cool April, warm May, dry hot June, tropical July, baking hot August, chilly night September, fall foliage October, plunging cold, windy November, festive December. 😃

Come to Sunny North Dakota. Seasons are Winter, Road Construction, Mosquito’s, and more Road Construction.

:winter: :snowing: :hammering: :banghead: :hammering:

Ok, I can’t complain, cuz it was nearing 60 degrees today, in November, and in North Dakota. :tanning:

Traditionally, we get the first blizzard of the year on Hallowe’en night. I am hoping that global warming will cause it to be delayed.

(What is the difference between a Canadian child’s Hallowe’en costume and an American child’s Hallowe’en costume? ANSWER: The Canadian child’s costume is several sizes larger, so as to fit over his snow suit.)
Ha, ha, ha!!! 😃 DH used to live in South Dakota, ya know a state in the USA. 😉 He said that it would be snowing by Halloween and was usually still snowing in May. 😛

Here in Northeast Oklahoma we have had our first freeze for the year. We’ll see how it goes this year. We’re thinking it’s going to be bad. The squirrels having really been picking up the nuts this year, including some really BIG nuts, which we haven’t seen them do before. Hmmmmm:hmmm:

I’m sure it will start snowing here in awhile. I’m kind of afraid but very excited. I’ve only seen snow once in my lifetime. Even that was snow that had been on the mountain forever and was almost melted.
