About 4-5 months ago I came on here and proclaimed to be a good and faithful Catholic. My intentions were sincere, but soon after, I got sucked up and brainwashed by Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Not on this site, though. I honestly don’t know why I had an interest in converting to either of those organizations. I don’t know what came over me. Deep down I knew the Catholic Church was Christ’s church, the true church. But the Mormons and the Jehovah’s Witnesses had a lot of things I liked, such as the comradeship and an easier understanding of the Trinity. I don’t blame the Mormons and the Jehovah’s Witnesses entirely, I do blame myself as well for getting sucked in. It’s something that I am not proud of whatsoever. I always had faith in the Catholic Church, especially when Pope Francis became Pope, and I think if I strive hard and pray, I will become a better Catholic. I really want to be a Catholic who lives by the Gospel and follows Christ. I want to start going to church more often, and get confirmed into the church.

I am sorry for being a horrible Catholic. I am not proud of myself. 😦

What did you teach them? I just want to know what you brought to them from the Catholic Church. What teachings did you introduce to them and what teachings did you confirm that they hold? Perhaps a mistake to go, but you might have done some good at the same time.

you need to put the past behind you, forget about it and move forward. Not sure why you were involved with groups that basically deny who Christ is and are opposite of even each other. Why don’t you try to find a spiritual director to help you.

You’ve said you’re sorry to us, now prove to God that you are sorry by continuing on your journey to a full member of the Catholic Church. 🙂 As St. Josemaria Escriva said, “We are not judged for how many times we fall, but by how many times we get back up.” Keep moving forward, and now that you have had this experience, you will be able to show more empathy to others who fall into the same trap and you may lead them to salvation. 👍

We don’t care that you left. We are just delighted you are back! We left the light on for you! Welcome home!

Well, if u continue as a morman, u will get to ride on the alien spaceship! 😉

I agree with you completely 🙂

Welcome home, friend. The door is unlocked and is waiting to be reopened. Glad to have ya back with us 😃

I will keep you in my prayers. Much Love!

Yes, I agree that we are just so happy that you came back! You might want to go to confession about this if you haven’t already.

Hi Kanuckistani

It seems that sometimes we need to look around the neighbourhood to better understand our own home. Maybe we can also learn some things from people who live in a different home to ourselves.

God bless +

Michael

👍 Totally agree with the post above.

You are back now, back home. Might I suggest you find a priest and explain all this and confess.

Remember, our Lord never shuts on the door on his sheep. :console:

Welcome back!

Schedule an appointment with a priest and have him hear your confession. Tell him what happened.

You’ll feel a lot better after. 👍

Kanuck - make sure that you are going to Mass weekly and confession at least monthly…(plus reading scripture and having a daily prayer life). The sacraments build up our armor in Christ and defend us from sin and false gospels.
My intentions were sincere, but soon after, I got sucked up and brainwashed by Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.
They came to your door or you ventured into some websites??
But the Mormons and the Jehovah’s Witnesses had a lot of things I liked, such as the comradeship
Cults tend to have an appeal at an emotional level but Catholics use the intellect and reason. The intellect and reason lead us to the Truth…much better than emotions that on their own can lead us astray when we depend on them and shut off reason.
and an easier understanding of the Trinity.
Neither have a correct understanding of the Trinity. And understanding the Trinity is not easy. But we are innately have a desire for the truth, whether it is easy to understand or not. Polytheism is pretty confusing on it’s own.
I don’t blame the Mormons and the Jehovah’s Witnesses entirely, I do blame myself as well for getting sucked in. It’s something that I am not proud of whatsoever.
Spend some time reading the Catechism. I particularly recommend reading it in a year. It’s very doable to spend 10 minutes every day. See the link here.
I always had faith in the Catholic Church, especially when Pope Francis became Pope, and I think if I strive hard and pray, I will become a better Catholic.
Prayer is needed but make sure that you are attending Church weekly and confession monthly. Doing so gives you the grace to persevere in faith. It’s not hard to do so…just commit yourself. And get involved in the Church in some way…bible study, volunteer…etc.
I really want to be a Catholic who lives by the Gospel and follows Christ. I want to start going to church more often, and get confirmed into the church.
Yes… go to Church weekly…during the week too if and as you can.

Are you not confirmed?? Please clarify…
I am sorry for being a horrible Catholic. I am not proud of myself. 😦
We all make mistakes. We all sin. The most important thing is to always admit our mistakes, repent and return to Christ and his Church.

Don’t feel bad. I left for Evangelicalism for a while. Many of have veered for a while. What is important is that we are back, and that we learn from our experience.

It is because I went to the Evangelicals that I began to study Catholicism. Otherwise I would have remained a lukewarm, half-practicing Catholic. Another good thing that came out of it was that I began to read the Bible, and I caught the “Evangelical Fervor” when it comes to spreading the Gospel and committing myself to Christ.

And I also now appreciate the love and devotion to God that others outside of my own religion have and to respect that.

The Trinity, Three Persons in one God, (The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is a mystery of our faith. We believe because we have faith in Jesus Christ!

btw, Neither group is Christian. They have no valid baptism. ergo they have no understanding of the Trinity

I hope by “more often” that means
  • never deliberately missing mass on Sunday and holy days.
  • and that you truly confirm your faith by sacrament and action **2 Pet 1: **5] make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be the more zealous to confirm your call and election, for if you do this you will never fall; 11 so there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

At a human level you’re forgiven 😉 Now It’s important to say that in confession where forgiveness of that is sacramentally removed :highprayer:

Read a few chapters of the bible everyday. It helps you if you encounter something way off the wall - like Satan being Jesus’ brother.

Get in line brother. The line is after the 15th block 😃

Repent, go to Confession, pray, pray and then pray some more 😃

Read the Scriptures (Make sure it’s a Catholic Bible :)), read the Catechism, if you get a chance read The Fathers Know Best by our in-house senior apologist Jimmy Akin.

God Bless,

I don’t think it’s good to be cutting yourself down. It’s good that you’ve realized that you’ve done something wrong, but that’s good enough. Focusing on yourself and how bad you are is way less profitable than focusing on Our Lord and Mary and understanding how good they can make you.

Keep praying, and ESPECIALLY when you don’t feel like it. You are being prayed for. 🙂
