I've been slapped!

Well I guess I just got my hands slapped. I have been banned from the baptistboard. I used to be a protestant but now I’m Catholic and I guess they didn’t like that. What fun is it to have a dialogue with only like minded people? It seems to me like they are afraid of real answers to explain Catholism.

Are there any forums where their is a real chance for an exchange of ideas with the protestant point of view?

:eek: Oh, no!Tell me it isn’t so:D Seriously, I am not surprised at all that they have banned you, they are afraid you will convince people of the truth. Try on of the Church of Christ message boards I bet they banish you even faster.They tell them what to believe with little or no documentation,so the last thing in the world they want is a knowledgeable person to come in there.God Bless
 
Yes there is a forum for a real chance for an exchange of ideas…and you have found it. THis site is objective and will not shun you for protestant sentiments.

I agree. I think these forums are a good place to dialog with pretty much any religion (or no religion) you wish.

Are you at liberty to share with us the nature of your fatal faux pas? I am curious about what gets one thrown off a Baptist board. I’m getting a feel for what gets people tossed of this one and wonder whether the situation is parallel.

Hmmm, are there such a thing as “Church of Christ” message/forum boards? I am unaware of any. They typically don’t go to such ends as the internet to discuss doctrine and the Bible. I know, I used to be a member of that group “denomination.”

Not that I’m gonna go cause a stir, or even join one, just wondering.

Yes there are a few forums where you can have an open discussion with Protestants. Why not head over to Yahoo groups and join any of the following:

ACTS
BATTLEACTS
APOSTOLIC TRUTH
CATHOLIC-PROTESTANT

You are most welcome to join the Apostolic Truth list, and I could certainly do with a hand dealing with a Puritan and a Calvinist.

Anyway, this is a really good place to hang out. Lots of folk with interesting ideas.

Ok, I’ve just been over there and read some of the anti-catholic stuff they spew! I don’t know how you made it as long as you did before you got banned.

Wow, they sure have a hang up about Mary! Either they say we raise her up (what did she ever do?) or we bring God down (to our level) geez… these people really don’t have a clue! They equate Mary to idol worship, which of course we do all the time :rolleyes:.

And of course like all Catholics, we don’t know the Bible. Of course the Church predates the Bible, and wrote it, but we don’t know anything about it and don’t use it. Ok, yea, right…
 
There was a Priest posting at the same time I was there. He was kind loving and full of biblical knowledge. The Baptist couldn’t handle it. I think what did me in is that after one guy named Joseph got so angry I wrote that I would pray for him. He got even mader thinking I was praying for him to be “saved” I ment that I would pray for him to be more loving and kind! I guess you can’t tell a Baptist you will pray for them they don’t like it!

WOW!!! I just visited baptistboard out of curiosity. The majority of posts are from vehemently angry anti-catholic baptists. The apparent hatred toward anything Catholic or Orthodox is unsettling to say the least. I will never go back to that site. I’m nauseous right now!:eek:

Baptist.org is the same way. They are very rude to anyone who isn’t proclaiming their own brand of Christianity. I wasn’t kicked out but I was asked to leave by a member and simply left.

PS: And I’m not even Catholic! Yet 😉

:rotfl: LOL … OH my gosh, I needed a good laugh this morning. Exchange ideas with a protestant like a Baptist? I’d rather shoot myself in the foot. There’d be less pain.

My 12 year old daughter was talking religious values with a boy who liked her. Once she mentioned she was Catholic, the boy (also 12) quickly ended the conversituation. When she asked him why he didn’t talk to her anymore, he said. “Because I’m a Black and White Baptist.”

We all need to teach our children to defend there faith at an early age. Mine just learned a hard lesson.
 
This is so sad - even the moderators spew out this anti-Catholic falsehoods and pure hate:
  • The RCC is not a Christian Church, has never been a Christian Church, and never was a Christian Church. And it certainly isn’t evangelical.
  • You can put it one of two categories: that of a cult, or that of another world religion (just like Hinduism, or Islam).
  • The Catholc Church really doesn’t believe that Christ died for their sins; otherwise why would they think that they have to pay part of that penalty suffering for them in a place called purgatory.
  • The Catholic Church does not believe that Christ can directly forgive their sins, otherwise why must they go through a priest to obtain forgiveness of sins.
  • The Catholic Church breaks some of the most basic of the Ten Commandments, all the while trying to teach the same to their children. “Thou shalt not make any graven image…Thou shalt not bow down to them.” Two of the ten commandments are violated here.
  • The Catholic Church is not based on the Bible, it based on fear, and a blind faith in the rulings of the magesterium. It is not a Christian Religion
  • the RCC, despite it’s own words, practices, condones, and is partly funded by pagan idolatry.
  • Do you elevate Mary above all other women? If so, then you are committing idolatry. Do you pray to Mary? If you do, then you are committing idolatry.
  • Mary was just another sinner whom God used for his purpose.
I don’t know if it would do any good to sign on and refute all this (and so much more) they seem to ban most who are faithful Catholics, and don’t bother reading what the Catholics write anyway.

The things that get me are how they* really *have a problem with Mary. And I’ve seen it other places where they say that RC is not based on the Bible. That one gets me every time.

I haven’t been able to say that in many years! 😃

I don’t think it would be valuable to attempt to refute them, in my humble opinion. They are “very” defensive and very “angry” people.
