I hit my father. It’s not the first time this has happened either.
I have broken the 4th Commandment.
I hit him several times and smashed a few items around the house during an argument.
My father has a poisonous tongue and unashamedly says hurtful words to family members on a daily basis. DAILY. He always calls my mother horrible words. And he calls me horrible words too. I should know better- I should have turned the other cheek like I always do but I didn’t and I’ve committed an abhorrence.
I always wear my rosary and scapular and I am so ashamed to be wearing them right now.
My father is only human. I am only human. Have mercy on us.

I respect his authority and I always try to listen to my father; I just don’t like him swearing. He thinks if I disagree with his swearing I disagree with his authority and thats not true! It is just so hard to obey my father when he says horrible things. I don’t want to repeat the words he says on this forum but they are truly foul. I pray that maybe my father will stop saying horrible things. Its so hard and I am so ashamed of myself when I give in to anger even if it is provoked. It is so wrong and if I continue this habit what will I be like when I get married? What will happen when my wife/daughter/son say horrible things to me in an argument and I lose control and hit them? What type of husband hits his wife? A husband who would hit his own father! I DO NOT WANT TO BE THAT MAN and I would never forgive myself. Give me strength to turn the other cheek and curb this vice so when I have my own family I can have patience to curb all anger. I am scared this will happen again. Have mercy.
I am going to say the rosary now and intend to go to confession ASAP but please pray for me and my family.

Our Father, who Art in Heaven
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
World without end.
Amen.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,

We can pray for you and God works miracles and can change this around. But you need more help in other areas.

***Saint Jude, glorious apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of difficult and desperate cases. Pray for me who am so miserable. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly — (Please help redkingofspades and his family) — and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout all eternity.:highprayer:

Love, Sheila

Sometimes it’s very hard to turn the other cheek. God isn’t blind and understands the frustration and anger ur going through. Ur anger and actions aren’t out of malice but, out of defending the peace of the house and the honor of ur mother for the sake of righteousness. Just cause he is ur father, doesn’t make him without fault. He is not perfect and in his imperfection is dishonoring God by his actions toward you and ur mother.Sometimes a person can only take so much abuse and then snaps out of anger that has been provoked by other people’s evil actions and words. I been there and I also understand. All u want is peace and respect from ur father for you and ur mother. There si nothing wrong with that. God is an understanding God and knows the difference between unjust anger out of malice and just anger out of righteousness. Respect is a two-way street and should be honored by all family members. Respect is earned when respect is given. Ur father can’t earn the respect from you or ur mother if he behaves likes the devil.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

I am sorry you are living in in what sounds to be a very verbally abusive environment. I will pray for your intention and also hope you can obtain some counseling from a priest or other source to help you with these issues and it would be best if your father got some help too but he is not posting so I address this to you of course.

Even if your father does not go, you yourself could use the help to deal with the feelings of anger you have and what to do with those feelings that are not physical.

Understanding what you did wrong is the first step to help you from doing so again.

Take care and God bless.

Mary.

**Dearest Lord,
teach me to be generous;
teach me to serve You as You deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labour and not to ask for reward
save that of knowing I am doing Your Will.

Amen.**
