There is no point arguing with these protestants and people who are anti-catholic.

Sure its ok to defend the catholic faith, I really believe that we should do that, but the problem with people in these antagonising forums is that they do not listen anyway.

Maybe they should make a promise, if they listen and we can prove that the catholic church is true, then they have to convert.

That way, they will find the truth and the truth will set them free - because there is 100% proof that the catholic church is the true church.

Another point on scripture. You can not rely on scripture alone, as Our Lord taught the people things that were not necessarily written down. So the teachings of Jesus are in its entirety in the Catholic Church, by tradition and scripture combined.

The danger is each one of us interpreting the scripture in different ways, and 5 people interpreting one gospel they may get 5 different interpretations. That is why we rely on the church…the priests and those who study for 6 years to learn how to interpret the scripture - the priests.

Go to the top of the page. Go to “members”. Then just start looking at all the members who have never posted, yet still visit here. Although sometimes it may seem that those who post aren’t listening, just speak to those who may have the same questions, but actually are listening to the answers.

It helped me to see how many never actually post but do visit and “lurk”.

As for some of the others, I personally have started to use my ignore list. I occassionally take it off to read and see if there is any progress. I have 2 on it. One who claims to be Catholic yet does not believe in the Assumption, believes praying to saints is idolatry, etc. And another who thinks they can interpret what the Catholic Church teaches better than Catholics. A kind of highbrow intellectual approach to “Catholics worship Mary” No we don’t, “yes you do” Fancy words and a lot of “history” to support his conclusions, but basically trying to let us know what the Catholic Church really teaches.

So I continue to defend on these forums but have started to “shake the dust from my feet” from others.

if a person just doesn’t want to listen, what we can do is to pray for him, and converse with the many others who do listen.

3 Things:
  1. You can usually tell a polemicist after they give the first reply. They will be in “teaching” or “interpretation” mode. Never in honest inquiry mode.
  2. We write our posts so that those who ARE making honest inquiry, will have some content to examine.
  3. We keep repeating our apologetics because our posts (no matter how good) eventually age-out and are put in rather inaccessible archives" or purged from the forum.

I think the Savior went to the Cross with about 80 people in all Israel that believed in Him as the Messiah. Bummer.

I think we can only sow the seed. It is the work of the Holy Spirit which will open their eyes and hearts.

Because I was treated horribly unfairly by a Mod named Robert Bay. I was banned any time I voiced an opinion different than his.

I will keep protesting until Robert apologizes.
