Great post…I was disappointed with the derailment of that thread but more concerned for the OP that seemed to be forgotten in the process. This thread already existed which is why I suggested those who wanted to talk generally about IVF come here…leave his thread free for support, encouragement and prayers.
 
Assisted reproduction is only moral if it still requires the performance of the marital act. Therefore, taking medications to enhance sperm motility or to induce ovulation are perfectly legitimate, because they still require the performance of the marital act. IVF and AI, on the other hand, are gravely immoral, because they separate the marital act from the act of conception.
Understood. It seems possible that a form of assisted reproduction, involving the marital act, followed by intervention beyond medication, could one day be possible.

Indeed. This is the desire of the Church, and I believe they have spoken out before about the sad reality of so much money going into IVF - without attempting to find a type of technology such as the one you describe.
