There are a lot of good people working there that have nothing to do with this.
That’s OK. I wasn’t suggesting a boycot, I was making people aware of the AD, because I truly believe that just like many other things in our modern day world this is the kind of thing that is slowly filtered into society to desensitize people.I will continue to shop JCP.
And gay people will stop being gay if we stop buying shirts and slacks there.![]()
You are right. I don’t believe it said anywhere in the article that we should not shop there. It said we should call, or write and express concern and ask them to remain neutral. They don’t have to speak out against Gay lifestyle, they also don’t have to promote it.There are a lot of good people working there that have nothing to do with this.
If Wendy and Maggie have daughters, there has to be a man involved somehow.Grandma is A-Ok with her daughter’s lesbian lifestyle as well, it would seem. Grandma Carolyn is there in the photo with Wendi and Maggie and the 2 little girls. Gee, I wonder where the DADDY is…
Sick, sick, sick.
“New from JC Penney! Our latest “Lesbian Line” of comfortable sportswear!”

Yes, although putting sperm into a cup (either for money or as a friendly donation) is quite often the only involvement they have.If Wendy and Maggie have daughters, there has to be a man involved somehow.
Having less superficial flaws is not immoral, living a gay lifestyle is. Desensitizing the public to this kind of disordered lifestyle is not good.Just to play devil’s advocate: when was the last time you actually saw anything truthful in any advertising campaign? When was the last time a photo wasn’t airbrushed or tweeked or when a model actually looked like a real life person? Not saying this particular ad campaign is appropriate, but I haven’t seen much in any advertising campaign that actually reflects the average normal American lifestyle in quite some time.

50 years ago Rob and Laura Petrie couldn’t even sleep in the same bed on t.v(I remember watching the reruns as a young child and wondering why they had twin beds…). Now anything short of actual naked sex is pretty much OK for prime time t.v… 25 years ago you would have been hard pressed to find a woman on a t.v. commercial in a bra and panties. Now it’s the norm and we should only be bothered that our young sons and daughters view such things if we are uptight or a prude.
Premarital sex, contraception, abortion, living together, at one time were all considered immoral. Not any more. We were desensitized little by little in just the same was as this latest JC Penny AD, until we find ourselves at the point that most barely give a second thought to hear the mention of these things.
It is now pretty much a given that barring a miracle, that within a few years most will all be desensitized and not give a second thought or look, to seeing same sex couples on t.v. shows, in family advertisements or walking down the street hand in hand.
Just 10-15 years ago, most would not have seen this coming, but here we are.
Within 20 years, there will be little left of Christian values in this country. Most will say, that’s hysteria. But many would never have dreamed of the day that we would see a same sex couple proudly displayed in a JC Penny AD as just another ordinary family.
Or they adopted. If Wendy and Maggie have daughters, there has to be a man involved somehow.
My daughter has a classmate at her Catholic school that has two moms. Last year one of the moms had twins. My daughter’s classmate is adamant that her baby sisters have no father. This is what her moms have told her, that there is absolutely no father. My daughter (second grade) keeps asking us about it. We are firm in the fact that the babies, do indeed, have a father. He may not live with the family, but he exists somewhere. My daughter and her classmate are both confused by the situation. Sad, and something very difficult to explain to a 7 year old.If Wendy and Maggie have daughters, there has to be a man involved somehow.
Frightening, isn’t it? I can’t even imagine what this world is going to be like when my small daughters are adults. I remember when I was in high school, it was pretty scandalous to wear a sweater exposing your shoulder (Flashdance style). Geeze, that sounds so tame now. That’s OK. I wasn’t suggesting a boycot, I was making people aware of the AD, because I truly believe that just like many other things in our modern day world this is the kind of thing that is slowly filtered into society to desensitize people.

That is incredible! I guess lesbians have finally achieved parthenogenesis! The media should be alerted! My daughter has a classmate at her Catholic school that has two moms. Adopted children are conceived without a father?Or they adopted.
No. But it does explain why ‘daddy’ isn’t in the picture.Adopted children are conceived without a father?
I know. I just think the other poster was stating the obvious-that a father has to be involved, biologically, somehow. Of course, he is probably not in the picture.No. But it does explain why ‘daddy’ isn’t in the picture.
I can imagine the confusion if a child is told that a baby can be born without a father. (Even if they adopted, there would be a father involved somewhere.)My daughter has a classmate at her Catholic school that has two moms. Last year one of the moms had twins. As I’ve already said…I’m not boycotting anybody. I’m not boycotting JC Penny. I already said that it is my belief that when we desensitize people to things, eventually it becomes acceptable and just another ordinary way of life and that is my concern.I’d say that’s promoting tolerance of families who are perhaps different than yours, yes…but not specifically promoting homosexuality. We must promote tolerance and love for a variety of people–don’t forget, it’s not a “sin” to be gay-- or our children will end up bullying the gay kids in school, etc.
They do have to know gay people are out there and are to be treated like everyone else who is not gay.
By the way…JC Penney isn’t showing these women having sex together. Being “partners” can mean many things, it doesn’t necessarily mean having “disordered” sex.
But also…if you want to take action against any advertisement of two people who may be in a disordered relationship…you would pretty much have to attack every single ad you see in most womens’ magazines, billboards, TV commercials, etc.
We see couples kissing, embracing, half-naked together…and it is NOT made clear that they are married. Deffffinitely not.
So these relationships are just as disordered as the one you mention, above, of the two women…because the basic disorder is that a couple is having sex and they are not married, right?
I trust you are boycotting and complaining to managers about all of these disordered heterosexual ones, too?
Or, I guess…the disorder is not being married in the Catholic church?
Because for all we know, the two women in the example above are *indeed *married…but just not in the Catholic church.
But then…all marriages outside the Catholic church would be disordered, too.
Oy, that’s a lot of letter writing to do…

Your point, about all the ADs that show women half clothed or with men in disordered relationships etc. is exactly my point, which I mentioned in a post a few up. The desensitizing of premarital sex, contraception, abortion, co-habitating without marriage has already happened. There is no going back.
I’ve already made it perfectly clear if you have actually read my posts in this thread that I understand people may have no choice in dealing with SSA, but they do have a choice in whether to act on it or not.
It’s obviously not an issue or concern of yours. You are obviously comfortable with the media that attempts to desensitize us to thinking this is all perfectly natural. I am not.
I already have enough on my plate thanks to this same type of media/advertising and attitudes with regards to teaching my children that premarital sex is not part of God’s law, that abortion is truly and really the taking of a life, that contraception can lead to evil. I have to be ready to have a counter argument for all the resources, advertisments and media and secular teachers that tell my children that it’s all perfectly natural and fine.
This whole teaching tolerance thing is way over used in my opinion. We teach our children to love others, to never cause harm to another human being no matter what their beliefs, to never do evil even if you believe it is for the sake of good, but we absolutely don’t teach them that it’s OK to just sit back and do absolutely nothing in the name of showing tolerance for other’s choices or not to offend somebody. That is immoral in my opinion.
So I’m doing my part to get the word out to those who believe that this desensitization is dangerous to our children’s understanding of right and wrong and asking them that if they do agree to help do something about it. To send an email and express concern. That’s hardly bullying or showing any kind of hate towards anybody.
You’re muddling several different concepts. One is the validity of a marriage, another is the sinfulness of behavior, and yet another is the disordered nature of sexual behavior and feelings.I’d say that’s promoting tolerance of families who are perhaps different than yours, yes…but not specifically promoting homosexuality. We must promote tolerance and love for a variety of people–don’t forget, it’s not a “sin” to be gay-- or our children will end up bullying the gay kids in school, etc.
