Jack Chick admits to indoctrination

The Chicoms stole the idea of illustrated books to indoctrinate people from Americans? Puhleeeeze. Illustrated propaganda, leaflets, tracts, etc. etc. have been around at least since the time of the printing press. Just look at how Luther used them!

Chick’s tracts are just simple-minded propaganda-that is why they have an effect. If someone isn’t really looking into a deep process of spiritual growth but just some fast and easy “answers” than a Chick tract is the way to go.

Has anybody ever wondered why somebody, like a Catholic or a Catholic organization, doesn’t sue Mr. Chick for libel? It would be an open and shut case…

Because were better than that!

It’s not about making money, its about stopping the lies. One doesn’t even have to sue for money, simply for the cessation of the libel.

I am assuming that it would be considered freedom of speech. Just like all of those bogus “newspapers” at the gas station. I think one them had an, “interview” with Hillary Clinton, after she was, “abducted by aliens.”

Good point 👍

That’s different. Those are classifed as satire, which is protected as free speach. Libel, on the other hand, is the act of printing something you either know to be or *should * know to be is untrue. All this would require is proving that Mr. Chick should know that the Vatican has no giant computer full of Protestant names, or any other of his lies.

I think there would be a technicality involved with the lawsuit. Lawsuits are Civil matters. They aren’t international in jurisdiction. The Vatican, being locataed in a foreign country, wouldn’t be allowed to sue a U.S. Citizen.

Besides this, if the Vatican were to sue everyone who said something untrue about the Catholic Church, well then, just about everyone in the world would be sue’d.

You must have repeated something untrue about the the Catholic Church during your lifetime, as admittedly(and sorrowfully) I have.

Catholic Dude:
Read this comic book put out by Chick:

He admits to using indoctrination to get his message across.
Here is another strange quote from Chick’s website:
-----------------------------Copied from Chick’s website FAQ’s------
Will Chick Publications publish my book?

Our ministry is primarily publishing the gospel tracts of Jack T. Chick.
------------------------------end quote--------------------------

Note: This quote says “gospel tracts of Jack Chick”. How come they don’t publish Gospel tracts of the Bible?. Does this mean Jack Chick is a self nominated super pope of the protestants? And he has re-written the bible in his own words?

And everyone knows very well that Hillary Clinton was never abducted by aliens. She only represents them.

It probably also has something to do with Christ’s commandment that we settle our differences with our brothers before we take him to court. I think the high moral road is to stay our of court and let our Karl Keatings and Scott Hahns continue to do their great work to refute the likes of the Jack Chicks. (we too are doing this work. Karl, Scott, et. al. are just the giants in the field 🙂 )

The problem is that Mr. Chick has been corrected time and time again but he will not stop. It is to the point at which St. Paul instructed that we “suffer not even to eat” with him. I am not suggesting that the Vatican sue Mr. Chick, or that an attempt be made to sue every person whom has ever spoken against the Catholic Church. What I am suggesting is that it woule be beneficial for somebody to sue Mr. Chick to stop his printing of this material because Chick Publications are relatively widely read, and they present ideas that are clearly libel as opposed to simple errors.

For instance, I spent a lot of time saying that Catholics shouldn’t call priests father. That was a misunderstanding of a Scriptural text. What’s more, I was not educated enough to know any better. However, Mr. Chick goes so far as to professionally publish his material, and on top of that it is not material that is simple misunderstandings, but it is rather fabricated stories that he is representing as true. The amount of damage that this has the potential to do to the faithful more than warrants this action.

I see your point but if the church was successful in getting the printing of the tracts stopped, it would probably fuel anti-Catholicism even more and lend credence, at least on the surface, to their conspiricy theories. “see look, the black pope and the Jesuits were successful in shutting down our printing presses of God’s truth.” I could see that as one claim.

Maybe that was the true meaning of It Takes A Village… :hmmm:

I totally agree. Dan Brown and Tim LaHaye would have a field day.

As it is most christian bookstores do not carry his nonesense. If he were to be sued, that would create a stir, and maybe more people would want to read his nonesense to see what all the fuss is about.

Besides, is Chick in the 9th district court?
