Are we turning into a jaded culture? If so where is the root of the cause.

I’d say yes. Technology would be the root of this cause. We want technology to do everything for us knowadays. It’s insane. No one needs to keep up with the Joneses. It’s just an overindulgence in technology. We are too reliant on technology. Not everyone is though. Including me. 🙂

If so where is the root of the cause.

If I were desperate to name only one nominee for the ‘root cause’ I suppose it would be the biased main stream media and their cursed political ‘narrative’ of the day.

I don’t know. There are a lot of amazing people still out there trying to make this world a better place.

Personally, I have to turn off the news and take it in small doses. The steady stream of negativity, violence and death isn’t healthy. The real world doesn’t fit in that tiny box.

I had to laugh a little today, sad laughter really, because I was stuck at the doctor’s office while CNN played in an endless loop.

For a few moments, they stopped to remind people of “everyday heroes” but their “reminder” was a blip on the radar compared to the constant assault on the viewer’s mental landscape with images of trauma, grief, misery… 5 minutes of consolation… 23:55 hrs of grinding our collective imaginations in the dirt.

God’s still in His Heaven and sending His angels to help. Don’t lose hope or the Devil wins. 👍

The root of the cause for me is losing virtue - balance, which has tilted to excessiveness.Man is composed of body & soul, and both must be nurtured. You must feed the body as well as the soul.If one(soul)is lacking the necessary “nutrients” to sustain its health it withers away as the other(body)increases to excessiveness;detracting that which was meant to serve the other. If the spiritual life is out of order, the natural life is out of order and vice versa. What makes a fanatic? One who takes “one aspect” of a particular doctrine and concentrates all his efforts and belief on it,disregarding every other aspect of it,giving a false, unreasonable even dangerous element to what would have been completely harmless if digested in its entirety.

Technology, certainly is a good thing, but like politicians, technology is not serving the end to which it was designed or made:Instead of serving us,we’re serving it.Because of texting, children are having problems with spelling?Because of typing,we’ve partially lost creativity and ingenuity - when writing a letter[pen to paper that is]we used to think of space, size, length, width, strokes, cursive structure of the letters(etc…)in our minds before transferring our idea on to paper, the list goes on.Although technology is a good thing,it does not come without its own set of undetected problems.

Just my opinion.

God bless,

JMJ

I know it is not everyone but in my opinion would be: that our society is an “instant gratification” culture. Regardless of what “it” is, we want it now; we do not care how we go about getting “it” or who we hurt to get “it”.

And as others have pointed out technology and the “news” do not help in this respect. Technology is how we communicate now, no longer are we socializing as we once did with visits or talking face-to-face to our friends and family – we text or send e-mails. Then with the “news” which in my opinion is not news but just another reality type show.

I would be inclined to agree with you but I think the root of it is selfishness which the media endorses and incourages.

I think technology like anything else man made can be used for the greater good or the greater evil. In many ways I think it has stopped a lot of the suffering and abuse because it lays these open before us and we can no longer pretend these things don’t happen or ignore them. On the same side it also opens up people to be victimized when the same technology is abused.

I don’t think it’s just one thing. i think it’s a combination of several things: isolation from others due to technology, disintegrated families, little or no extended family support, the emphasis on all the wrong things in the culture…

Not sure how to fix it, except to be more mindful of others. Turning back the clock is definitely not the answer.

Not sure who said it but it’s very true that you can’t go back you can only go forward.
