I have a brother in law that is delving into a site called jahtruth.com
It is about a man named Jah that has written a book called " the way home or face the fire
This site speaks a lot of doom.
The followers believe Jah to be the living Christ on Earth today.
he teaches that Christianity was a decption by the devil and that all organized religions and especially Catholics are evil and directed by Satan.
He preaches to follow Gods laws (as in the old testament). And to abollish all mans law.
I find it very hard to defend my Catholic faith around him.
He also believes that the entire bible consist of the old testament , the new testament and the Koran.( Gods way of battling satan for starting christianity was to speak thru Mohammed and the Koran).
Can you help with this . Is this a cult. Maybe you can point me in the right direction.

Ummm… it kinda looks to me like a domain squatter and not actually a website. This isn’t even a website, it’s just a glorified search engine. If you click on any of the “categories” all it does is bring up a list of assorted links to other sites (most of which are unrelated to each other except for a few keywords).

This isn’t a cult, a religion or anything really. Go glogle.com and you’ll see another domain squatter using a mispelling of google.com. The only difference is that the jahtruth.com domain squatter is choosing to use religious themed category links to generate traffic.

This would explain why the doctrine you described makes no sense. There is no one on this site actually proposing any single doctrine, it’s just a portal to a more or less random assortment of other web sites.

The domain name is probably derived from Rastafari. “Jah” (or “Ja” sometimes) is the name used by Rastarari to refer to god. I’m only slightly familiar with Rastafarianism, but it’s basically the god of Abraham with a different messiah (one of the kings of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie I, or Ras Tafari Makonnen by birth). I won’t go into too much detail because this site you linked to really has nothing to do with Rastafari except for the use of the word “jah”. Search for Rastafari in google and you’ll learn more about it. The religion is most famous for it’s association with Reggae music thanks mostly in part to Bob Marley.
 
I’ll leave the technical analysis to MEP, who points out a big problem with the site. If you still want some info on the content, let’s take a look at some statements made by ‘Jah’:
  • the story of “Starwars” (‘Jah’ cannot spell very well in spite of divine guidance) was telepathically beamed into George Lucas’s head
  • the Jesuit General actually runs the Catholic Church
  • Tony Blair is the “Prime Minister of England.” No, Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
  • the ‘Illuminati’ started all the wars of the last two centuries
  • the King James Bible is the only true Bible; a few lines down, however, ‘Jah’ announces his new and improved Bible :confused:
‘Jah’ also promotes the vicious antisemitic fraud known as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which was proven to be completely false years ago.

How about this:
**The decking of fir trees with silver and gold and placing presents (offerings) under them is also a pagan ritual condemned by God in the Bible in Jeremiah 10:2-4. Nimrod/Osiris/Horus is often pictured with wings, holding reindeer and a fir tree.

Also, if you take the word CONIFER, which is the name given to the family of trees to which the Christmas (Fir) tree belongs, and split the word in two, you get:
CON-IFER

CON - Satan is known as the biggest con-artist ever. He invented it.
IFER - The last half of Lucifer’s name.
HE’S LAUGHING AT ALL OF US RIGHT NOW! **

Jah exhibits his complete ignorance of Egyptian mythology; Nimrod and Osiris are not the same. Conifer actually comes from Latin and means “bearing cones.” Getting any meaning out of this vis-a-vis Satan is like breaking down “Jah” to mean “Judas and Hell.” Does ignorance come from God?

He reminds me of Jack Chick (people around here probably think I’m obsessed with Mr. Chick), whose paranoid, anti-Catholic, antisemitic fantasies are well known.

My advice, and you may not like it, is not to bother arguing with anybody who believes this stuff. Reason will have absolutely no effect on him. Jah’s ramblings are full of conspiracies and codes; they are poorly written to the point of nonsense (not likely if God truly guided the author).

There really is nothing original on Jah’s site; it’s just a mixture of ideas from some old, discredited sources (MEP has the answer to why that is), a lot of it from Alexander Hislop’s hilariously wrong Two Babylons. Hislop’s historical errors have spread throughout certain fundamentalist circles.

Don’t argue with your brother-in-law about ‘Jah’ or your faith. You won’t get anywhere.
 
Wow. I honestly don’t mean this as an insult, but is your brother-in-law mentally deficient? The ramblings on www.jahtruth.co.uk are so patently ridiculous that I question the intelligence or sanity of anyone who could believe them. That being said, I suppose human beings may be easily led astray regardless of intelligence. You might try to point out the obvious problems with this guy’s interpretation of scripture. (For one thing, he claims to be both Elijah and Christ.) But, don’t expect to get too far with argument. If your brother-in-law swallowed this drivel hook, line, and sinker, he’s probably not up for much debate about it. Pray hard for him and live out your faith in front of him. Answer any questions he may have with truth and love. Let the Lord do the rest.
 
I see… it’s not jahtruth.com that you were talking about. Well then, my entire post is kind of pointless (well it’s dead on about jahtruth.com, but that’s not really what you meant to point us to). His heavy focus on both Islam and Ireland makes me wonder if he’s not some kind of mutant offshoot from Moorish Orthodoxy. That or maybe he’s just a schizophrenic who has read waaay too many Hakim Bey tracts (and who knows what else).

I’m wondering if this is even meant to be taken seriously. I’ve heard Wesley Willis songs that were more coherent than this. The Heaven’s Gate cultists had a more sensible doctrine than this guy. This makes Aum Shumrikyo look like a good idea. This has got to be either a hoax or this guy is preying on the most incomprehensibly stupid people imaginable…errr or people with mental illnesses. Please don’t take this as an insult to your family, but does your brother in law show any signs of depression or other mental illness that may be interfering with his mental faculties? Seriously, if he’s showing interest in this stuff, that’s a clear warning sign that something could be wrong. I would be very worried if someone I knew was taking any of this seriously.

thank you for all your comments, I feel the same way you all do but it is frustrating to see my brother in law aleinate himself from all their friends and family.
I believe the best I advise I got was not to discuss it with him at all / but he is so engrossed in it and feels that it his duty to le me know this is my last chance or I will face the fire. My faith is strong and I will pray for him and his family.
