Jaime Cardinal Sin of Manila Philippines gave up his earthly life an hour ago to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 76. We pray that his eminence to rest in peace and may eternal light shine upon him.
Just like the Pope John Paul II who was instrumental in bringing down communism, Jaime Cardinal Sin was also instrumental in bringing down a 20-year dictatorship in the Philippines. He was a very dear friend of the late pope, and was the youngest member of the college of cardinals to elect the late Polish Pope. Because of his poor health, Jaime Cardinal Sin was not able to attend John Paul II’s funeral and the conclave to elect Pope Benedict, something that made him sad.
We thank Jaime Cardinal Sin for his ministry, committment to his Filipino flock, his faith, his courage, his moral teachings and positions on the Filipino Society, his love…for just being the Apostle for Filpinos as Christ desires. Requiescat in Pace.
