God told Moses that He was “I AM”.
Now if God is always continuing and we are to be His disciples are you going to tell me that our right relationship or salvation or justification or any other word you want to put on it–are you going to tell me that it is discrete for an instant event and that is all that God wants?
Or that God only wants to seal an instance in a discrete event and not want us to COOPERATE with His all eternal continuance in a CONTINUING manner?
Come on now!
The Once Saved Always Saved mind is SO NARROW.
God is so much larger.
Course NARROW reasons are more easily tempting.
The devil knew exactly what he was doing with the Onced Saved Always Saved Falsity of all falsities!
The only FREEZING of the will occurs at death!
And the only way that grace is completely disrupted is through MORTAL sin. And you know what MORTAL means–death!!!
At death the will is frozen upward or frozen downward.
It CONTINUES that way in Purgatory, Heaven or Hell.
Let’s face it–Martin Luther was just LAZY–he didn’t like having to go through the catharsis of repentance–he wanted things to be EASY!
That’s what Once Saved Always Saved does.
Once Saved Always Saved proponents do repent after salvation–I would never say that they don’t–but they most definitely aren’t worried about being in a state of Mortal sin–they either don’t think such a state exists–or
–they believe that God will not allow them to fall into it if it does exist–or
if it does exist that God will forgive them and they don’t have to worry about being REPENTANT–about going through that Catharsis–they are FREE–just like Martin Luther “imagined” himself to be!
They have reduced salvation to EASINESS!
When Jesus says that you have to take up your cross and follow Him do you think He meant EASINESS?!
When He says ABIDE in Me do you think He’s talking about an instanteous only discrete event?!
That’s ludicrous!
Does Abide mean instantaneous?
I know one thing–if you bet your soul on the notion that salvation isn’t an instanteous only discrete event–if you believe that you have to run the race to the finish–if you believe Jesus when He talked about us being the branches and that we could be cast into the fire for not bearing fruit–
this even AFTER having Life through Him while we were branches
if you are Wrong and believe in Him then you certainly won’t go to Hell if Once Saved Always Saved isn’t true.
However if you are willing to bet your soul on the notion that Once saved always Saved is true and you are WRONG and you committ a Mortal sin and die in a state of Mortal sin because you’re not that worried about it–
if when Jesus says “Death comes as a thief in the night” and you don’t worry about it because you think you’ve got your TICKET PUNCHED
if when St. Paul says “WORK out your salvation with FEAR and TREMBLING” that you never fear and tremble because you believe in Once Saved Always Saved–
if you are WRONG then guess what------
you wind up going to Hell!!!
Now which way do you want to bet your soul on–the Catholic Church that has taught it for over 2,000 years–and EVEN Protestant churches such as Lutherans, Episcopalians, Methodists, and EVEN Free Will Baptists–that don’t believe in Once Saved Always Saved?
Do you think God let ALL of Christendom believe in what was wrong for 1500 years until Calvin came along?!
Are you willing to bet your eternal soul on that?
I’m praying that you don’t!
