Gabriel of 12;
Somehow gives you the authority to intepret “Truth” and pass judgment of so called “phony” christians?
**God is the one who gives the ability to see and articulate His truth as revealed in Scripture via the Spirit, which leads one to the correct understanding of Scripture. Before I was a Christian I would read God’s word and a few things I understood; but most I did not although I thought I did. I’ll give you an example because I see this error all the time.
1 John 3:8-9
8He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God"
1 John 5:18a “We know that whoever is born of God does not sin;”
When I first read and thought I understood; I believed that since I sin I cannot be saved or part of the Kingdom; why? It says if you sin you are of the devil and only those that do not sin are of God in those two passages. So what is the truth?
You have to look in the context; when we died in Christ, then Christ and His righteousness are in us and in Him their is no sin, thus it is not us that sins, but the flesh we still live with. Lets look at his precept from Scripture. Here are some various passages to show what it means to be in Christ and more importantly Christ in you via the Holy Spirit and the cross.
"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. "
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
“And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins”
“Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.”
“the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will F6 abide in Him.”
“For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all;”
"If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. "
There are many many more, but the point is that when one dwells in Christ; it is no longer the “old man”, it is put to death because of Christ, but the new man and a new creation in Christ. But as you plainly see from the words of Paul, we still sin, but not us, the flesh that dwells in us. The direction of your life, the true believer, will to be more like Christ and to sin less and less and less.
I do not pass judgment in the condemnation sense; but discernment is a gift of God given to believers; particularly if it is something you pray about.**
I can agree with you that God’s Word contains mysteries that can never be exhausted, for one Jesus body, blood soul and divinity revealed in his Gospels of the Eucharist can not be exhausted. The Holy Spirit is perfect and never contradicts. Although I too experience enlightenment of the Holy Spirit from Miracle at Mass, revelation of answered prayer, study of the scriptures and God’s revelation from my study to my personal life. But these are not a calling from God to contradict his will, with my own will by rejecting what Jesus built. By starting my own “free will” church to compete against (protest) he Catholic Church.
I understand, one’s interpretation today of not wanting to belong to a 2000 year old Catholic Church, because of this age we live in an age of “free will”. Which is abused today by humanity." Freedom only comes when our will rests in the will of God does it become truly will and truly free". “Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger” (Spirit and the Liturgy).
Peace be with you
As a child of God; one will be able to discern the truth of both what is good and what is evil, what is true and what is false. The writings of many are the very thoughts of a man; just as you have written above. If you could compare what you have written with the word of God, then your eyes my be opened with the help of God to weather what you have written is in accordance to what God has revealed.
