I recently posted a thread regarding my not being able to attend Jan 1st Mass due to working a 12 hour shift (7am-7pm). Mass is offered at 10 am so there is no way for me to attend. I was told that because I am working and there is no way for me to attended, I wasn’t committing any sins, but that if I could find a Mass on Dec 31st at night, I could attend that one and still fulfill my duty. Well, yesterday, one of my coworkers stated that she would come in and work for me for a couple of hours if I wanted to attend. I would really like to go, but because I work as a nurse, I am worried that day won’t go as smoothly if I leave the floor, also, I have been leaving a little earlier on a couple of days over the past few months in order to attend Mass. Those were for the 7 pm Mass times and not during the middle of the day. I would feel guilty for leaving my coworkers and my residents. (And maybe another reason I would like to stay at work but am a little ashamed to admit is that it is a US holiday and I will make paid time-and-a-half). I had already excepted that I wouldn’t be going to Jan 1st Mass. My questions is…Now that I have the option of attending Mass but instead choose to stay at work and complete my shift, am I committing a sin???
