Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This coming Saturday, our parish is hosting an “Annulment Workshop”, as the “kick off” to our 6 week series for “Returning Catholics”. We did this last year and about 50 people attended from our parish and two neighboring parishes to hear an excellent presentation by one of the Canon Lawyers currently working with annulment cases for our Diocese. She was also gracious in answering many questions. Please pray many more will attend this year. The evil one surely will tempt many to ignore this opportunity, when they really need to come, but prayer changes things.

Please pray for all those everywhere who are in irregular and difficult marriage situations preventing them from receiving Jesus in Holy Communion. There is much misinformation and misunderstanding about the annulment process! So many marriages in our country and the world remain in stress, needing the Lord’s healing, renewal, and being in full communion with His Catholic Church.

Pope Francis has asked the whole Church to pray and to discuss the needs of the Family as we approach both his visit to the US for the celebration of Marriage and Family in Philadelphia, Sept. 2015 and for the Extraordinary Synod on Marriage and the Family in Rome, Oct. 2015.

Thanks for your prayers, and any sacrifices you are inspired to offer for these intentions.

Praying for the intentions of all.
Dear tawny,

Thanks so much for your reply and for your prayers.

To all who read my original post on this thread and have prayed for us in our ministry to the Church, and are praying, “Thank you”.

As I prayed my Rosary this morning I remembered of Pope Francis’ urging us to reach out to those on the “peripheries” – how many marriages today are on the “peripheries”, “on the edge”, “the margins” all around us and even among our own family members?

God help us to remember and to do as Jesus revealed to us: “This is My Commandment that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12) If you know some one struggling to come back to the Catholic Church, considering sharing this website:

I am currently awaiting an annulment so that I can be received into the Church and be able to receive Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. The prayers and support we receive from others mean so much to those who have been divorced and those who are in irregular marriage situations. Every Mass I pray that all those awaiting annulment receive just and speedy decisions.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

I also went through the annulment process. Prayers and support are most needed and I would have loved to have a workshop to attend. The process can be tedious, finding witnesses not hesitant to participate difficult and emotionally draining.

I will pray it will be a great success and people will avail themselves to this opportunity.

Praying for the success of this event. Also praying for all those who are in irregular and difficult marriage situations.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Dear MJJean,

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and prayers with us. I hope anyone reading this thread who is hesitant about the process will seek help. Let us continue to pray for all.

Dear Mary,

Thanks so much for your prayers and I hope your words will encourage those who are struggling either to start or continue the process. Let us continue to pray for all.

Dear JMJ and all those who read this thread, and are praying…

… for this event and for all those in irregular and difficult marriage situations. There is such need of healing in our world today – but as in Christ’s time, He did not work many miracles in His own home town for there was so little faith there! Please let us continue to pray for all.

I am happy to note that a Canon lawyer will be present at the workshop. I urge anyone considering applying for a declaration of nullity that they seek professional help. Having had DH initially go through a ’ writing workshop’ led to more difficulties down the road including initial denial. He then pursued assistance from a Canon lawyer and was eventually granted a declaration of nullity. Time elapsed, money was spent, more than would have initially been necessary. Workshops are, perhaps, a good place to start if you need basic assistance applying for an annulment, but I urge everyone to, at the very least, always, always have a Canon lawyer review their submissions.

God bless and thanks for doing this the right way. Much success in your program.👍

Dear forgetmenot,

Thanks for your reply and for sharing your experience. Yes, we were blessed in having this particular Canon Lawyer/Judge who works at the Diocesan Tribunal come to speak for this second workshop. She was excellent last year so we hoped she could do it again and she was happy to do it. She not only conveyed her desire to give people the true teaching of the Catholic Church concerning annulments but she also conveyed a genuine care for souls.

I was very grateful to hear her stress that no one is refused because they are unable to pay a fee. She mentioned that fees can be waived. For those who can help with the expenses, the tribunal works on a sliding scale and tries to find what is best in each case. Please, let us continue to pray for all those who need to come “home”.
