Hello HoneyBea!
Excuse me for seeing the obvious but, the language barrier shouldn’t be a problem. Most JW’s know whose door they’re knocking on
before they knock and since they felt confident enough to try a convince you of their religion’s truth to even
bother knocking on an
American’s door, they obviously know enough English to try and convince you of their truths. If they weren’t trained yet to evangelize for their religion, they wouldn’t be allowed to even knock. Ummmmm…from that much and the fact that you feel they are already being “sneaky,” I’d surmise they’d feign misunderstanding of your dialect if you did bring up the truths of our religion with them.
As for their next visit and your concern for their souls, just offer them some literature such as a prayer card with an image of God on it or the Rosary. By their reaction you’ll be able to gauge whether or not they are open minded enough to even accept this small gesture and discuss the significance of it further.
They are supposed to reject anything you try to give them especially stuff like I just mentioned. If they took it, it might mean their hearts are softened a bit and it may help. But since you just did evangelize by the very act of giving reliable literature about our Faith to them, why not just let go and let God fill them in? They do in fact, have access to enough of God’s Word for them to experience conversion if they actually read it and responded to the grace found there in. The Rosary has been known to work more than one conversion!
It would be enough if their hearts aren’t hardened to the Truth. Even God can’t get through to a hard hearted person. That is the effect of one’s own will on His work for your soul.
But this is just my humble opinion.
