Try praying for those you may be jealous of. It’s hard to maintain jealousy or any ill will against someone you’re praying for.

I have been there myself many of times. :sad_yes: One thing that I learned over the years is that these super devout persons and families will very often have a very heavy invisible burden, ‘dark’ secret or a ‘black sheep’ of the family they are dealing with. 99 out of 100 times things really and truly are not what they seem.

A weird jealousy of people in grace recently plagued me. From time to time, I am jealous of those righteous, pious Catholics who seem to be born saints. I may also be jealous of those very passionate and amicable young priests, who seemed to be full of God’s grace and look so joyful, carefree and affectionate. How could young men reply to Jesus’s calling at such a tender age (i.e. in their late 20s and early 30s like me)? I might even be envious of St. Thomas Aquinas, who was so endowed with Divine wisdom and a burning love for Jesus! I really want to imitate, emulate and surpass all these saints… yet I’m so weak and useless. I am just an ordinary fat guy with no talent! I know I definitely lack interior humility, but I really yearn for God’s revelation! How much I want to see God directly at the closest distance possible and be with Him in eternity! I don’t know why I am suddenly so determined to strive for holiness at all costs. I really want to ‘re-recognize’ God, having squandered my first year after the Holy Baptism.:(
God made you with unique talents and gifts that are MUCH more than an ordinary fat guy! Have you considered working with a spiritual advisor to explore your faith, talents, and gifts? Sometimes it is nice to have someone to help recognize strengths that you aren’t able to see at the moment.
