Jealous of protestants

I am saddened by much of what I am reading here

My childhood and much of my adult life was Church of England. In every service, Matins, Holy Communion, Evensong, there are prayers of confession.

The one of my times is written on my heart,

¶ To be said by the whole Congregation. after the Minister, all kneeling.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore thou those who are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

I think it’s a terrifying thing to follow a religion that sometimes teaches
not even mortal sins will snatch you out of Jesus’ hand. Don’t you?

Luther’s “Sin boldly, and even more boldly believe in salvation.” must be one of the most perverse utterances made by an off-the-rails cleric. But his concept of God was pretty skewed as well. more like a tyrant than like a loving Father.

Hi. I thought it was the case that the Anglican communion only believe in Holy Communion as being symbolic rather than being of the understanding that the Holy Mass consists of real and present Sacrifice.

Also, wasn’t aware that Christian-denominational vicars absolve people from their sins?

i sometime feel jealous that they don’t have to worry about mortal sins and trying to get to confession. they don’t seem to have to follow the same rules as us so they can just go to church pray and not worry. I’m not talking bout murder etc but the sins that we fight daily they are free its not fair surely it should be easier for cathoics to get to heaven but it seems protestantsistsism is the easier route.

Protestantism can be more palatable. I think I have come across more Protestant young adults serious about their faith than Catholics. Try not to compare. There are things about the Catholic Church I would not trade. Catholicism can feel more rigid.

Being Protestant is not a walk in the park.

When I was an Evangelical, I was blown every which way, not knowing whose interpretation of Scripture I could trust. There were so many interpretations and one person’s sin was not a sin to the other.

At least, as a Catholic, I felt like I was standing on a sold foundation, the bedrock of Christianity. Makes sense, as the first Pope was St. Peter, the Rock.

Plus, we have the Eucharist.
