I’m not asking for any theological insights or anything (unless it has to do with the answer), but every time I see a Kingdom Hall, they ALWAYS look the same.

It’s not a bad thing, I’m not criticizing. It may be a silly question, but are they all built and designed that way on purpose, or is it just coincidence that I’m seeing the same types of buildings.

I always see small tan or grey colored churches, with a (can’t think of the technical term) space where you can drive up right to the door (and I guess drop off the family while you look for a space to park), with a stone wall.

Any help here?

There are very few design options for Kingdom Halls…my guess from what I’ve seen is there are only 4…the interesting ones are the ones with apartments attached.

I have asked the question before of why their kingdom halls all look like this My answer from several JWs has been this.
  1. Since most of their Kingdom Halls are built by Volenteers, (Contractors, people in the area, even if they are not JWs) and mostly people who are JWs.
  2. Simple to build. Not real hard floor plans.
  3. Cost Effective. Not expensive to build. I’ve even had a few of them tell me that they get “Places or people” to donate a lot of the material…sometimes even the land.
  4. Nice looking, somewhat plain and not fancy. Will fit nicely into almost all neighborhoods.
  5. They can have one up and moved into, in 3 days, but not over a week. Most of the time, other JWs from other Kingdom Halls in surrounding areas, will come and help build the new building. They have a lot of people working on it at the same time. Kind of reminds you of “House Make Over Crew”. Or in the “Olden Days” local people all getting together for the Ole Barn Raising. No I’m not making fun here, but in the Olden Days a Barn could be put up in one day, because of all the people there working on it at once.
