It is my understanding that Jehovah’s Whiteness’s refuse to vote or be engaged in politics because it is supporting Satan’s kingdom rather that Gods.

Anyone have any clarification on that or know of other groups with a similar belief?

Yes, as an ex JW, I can say that they will not vote, serve in any of the armed forces, recite the pledge of allegiance or ever debate anything related to politics.

Can’t give you the reason why (I don’t remember).

I think JW’s just like to see how much influence they can have on there followers.
They seem to call everything Demonic to account for anything they want to put across.
My mother is a JW and thats all i hear from her, Last week i was talking about the stars and planets and she got upset, Calling it Pagonism to even try understand the solar system.
I showed her a pic of Charles russell taz grave and his Pyramid with a cross and crown on, She told me she never heard of this and i was a Demonic father then stormed out.🤷
Not sure if it was the Cross that they are often told is false or the Pagan pyramidologist JW founder that got under her skin…
But shes refused to visit anymore… lol

Thats only a small bit of most arguements, I’m not religous but interested in hostory of alot of subjects but JW’s are clearly being minipulated and brainwashed but thats another story 😛
She cant understand why how i can read the JW version as well as other versions and still not religous… Shes been with JW for over 25yrs and i’ve only been reading the Bible for not even 2yrs and i still know more than her and it’s even funny when i once quoted a few things to her and she quickly reacted with “Ahh but who’s Bible did you get that from??” With a smirk on her face…
But she went VERY quiet when i told her it was a JW version…
😃

From speaking to several people who teach in schools with a sizable JW enrolement, they will not pledge allegence to the flag or any other civic thing, but they will accept welfair and free lunches.

Another former JW on here told us on a thread once that very hypocacy was one of the things that lead him away from it.

I do not want any children to suffer. At all. But to say that the pledge or voting or serving the country is bad but hand outs are ok is rubbish

They hold allegiance only to God (Jehovah). They do not contribute anything to the community as it is part of the evil pagan world. However, they have no problem owning a car or house or working in the world. In other words they take but will not give.

In defense of the JWs who are most likely not here on a Catholic Forum, they are not evil as you make them sound. They may not contribute to the community, but you know what, LOTS OF PEOPLE TAKE and do not contribute anything back to their communities.

They pay their taxes just like everyone else, so in a way they do give back to the community.. What are our taxes used for? They are working families trying to survive in this immoral world as best they can.

They are not evil people. What is wrong with holding an allegiance to only God. You know they worship the same God as us Christians do.

They are misguided souls and I think it is best to pray for them, not to bash.

Dear Teancum,

When I joined JW back in 1984, we had the same strict order not to engage in any politics, nor even to go to the election booth. But, in our last general election in 2005, I found that my JW friend did vote. He told me that the currect practice allowed them. The basis is “Give the emperor what is belong the the emperor, and Give God what is belong to God”.

Abit off topic but can anyone answer this for me as my mother doesnt answer when asked.
If a person has a Demon possesion we have a Priest to perform an exorcism…
Do JW’s have a same type of person who is capable of doing this??

Refraining from politics is so they will be “no part of this wicked system of things” Not reciting the pledge is based on not wanting to “worship” the idol of the flag.

Your friend that said voting is now allowed is self-interpreting. If he went and “confessed” voting to the Elders he’d be in a bit of trouble.

teancum79 - I am a former JW and it is as many have already replied. JW’s are completely apolitical. There are a couple of active JW’s that visit CAF and I am sure they can give the apology for exactly why beyond what has already been offered by former members like myself.

SirOscar:
You know they [the JW’s] worship the same God as us Christians do.
I have to chime in here and say this is completely untrue. JW’s are strictly non-Trinitarian and do not believe in the divinity of Jesus. They do not believe that the Holy Spirit is a person or Divine. In no way can the god of the JW’s be confused with the Christian God. This, I feel is the most critical point to consider when looking at any ideology within the JW framework.

Hello SirOscar,

I agree with most of your comments,
I also know several JW’s ( Extremly nice kind gentle folks)

I DO NOT agree that they worship the SAME GOD as ( I a Catholic does) That is a whole new thread.

God bless,
Carl

Yes, this is true. They do not believe in the trinity. They do not believe Jesus is God, that he is God’s son. They believe the Holy Spirit is the God’s invisible agent without form, sent to help people on earth. They believe these were all creations of God, instead of being a part of God himself.

This is what they are taught. This is why they are misguided.

But God to them is still God, the Alpha & Omega, the Creator of all things. The all powerful ever loving God we worship. When they pray they pray to God through his son Jesus. They ask for God’s holy spirit to help them too.

It is not a different God or a pagan God.

Right, because they have a different understanding of God - just like the Muslims, who I’m told the Pope has said worships the same God? What is the difference?

And in fact, it seems that their version of God is closer to the truth than the Muslims because they use the Bible - albeit a distorted version.

There is no difference, only in the belief of what makes up God.

They are still praying and worshiping to God The Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Is this not our God?

True if one is disqualified from worshiping God for not having a perfect understanding of him we are all in a lot of trouble.

SirOscar, hello again,

My post to you # 14,
I stand corrected as well as humbled
Thank you

God bless,
Carl

If a person or a group of people claim to be Christian and deny the divinity of Jesus then they are not Christian and who knows what god they worship.

If a person or a group of people do not claim to be Christian and worship The One God which they see as the historical Creator and Covenant maker between God and man as seen in those covenant relationships with Noah and Abraham and other various OT patriarchs, then we can see an imperfect view of the full revelation of God to man.

There is a vast difference between these groups. As I said, I was raised a JW so I speak from the place of experience. But it has also been noted, and I think correctly, that the worst place to gain information about any group is from a “former member” of that group. Being a former member certainly makes my views very biased against. I admit that openly.
