The following is taken from the Watchtower website (Jehovah’s Witness Cult):
How will false religion end?
Picture the scene. A harlot is sitting on the back of a fearsome beast. The beast has seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:1-4) Whom does the harlot represent? She exerts influence “over the kings of the earth.” She dresses in purple, uses incense, and is exceedingly wealthy.
Hm. I don’t remember it saying she uses incense. I think they’re trying to make this harlot look like the Catholic Church.
In addition, by means of her spiritistic practice, ‘all the nations are misled.’ (Revelation 17:18; 18:12, 13, 23) The Bible helps us to see that this harlot is a worldwide religious entity. She depicts, not any one religion, but all religions that produce rotten fruit.
It then has a picture of the harlot riding the beast, superimposed over various churches and meetinghouses. What filth.
Soon, though, an amazing event will take place. “The ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.” (Revelation 17:16) In a sudden, shocking move, the world’s political powers will turn on false religion and completely destroy her! What will prompt this action? The Bible book of Revelation answers: “God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought.” (Revelation 17:17) Yes, God will call false religion to account for all the despicable acts she has committed in his name. In a stroke of perfect justice, he will use her political paramours as his instrument of execution.
Another prediction bound to failure. At least they didn’t make a date this time!
What must you do if you do not want to share the fate of false religion? “Get out of her, my people,” urges God’s messenger. (Revelation 18:4) Indeed, now is the time to flee from false religion! But to where can you flee? Not into atheism, since its future is also bleak. (2 Thessalonians 1:6-9) The only haven is within true religion. How can you identify true religion?
And then it goes on and on, telling the reader that the Watchtower Society is the One True Religion, and all others are going to be annihilated. It also has a picture on the website of soldiers with guns and a cemetary, while an uncaring priest glares ahead. Filth.

this is not new. JWs have always condemned the Catholic Church as being the largest part of false religion—which includes every religion that is not their own. And they have always said false religion–as Babylon the Great–will soon be destroyed by the ten horns or the UN-who they believe is the Beast(even tho they themselves are members of the UN). What is amazing is that this has not changed in all these years. And they have never published a date–they are too slick for that, they merely allow and encourage speculation and then blame the rank-and-file when it does not work out.

I wasn’t aware that there were any religious orgs that were UN members. They might be members of the UN in the sense that the country of origin is a member though. Is that what you meant?

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society joined the U.N. supposedly so they could use their library.

Hi

I would like to mention for the ineterst of the members that Quran has also described of a Beast at end of times:

Quran
[27:77] Verily, this Qur’an explains to the Children of Israel most of that concerning which they differ.
[27:78] And verily it is a guidance and a mercy for the believers.
[27:79] Verily, thy Lord will decide between them by His judgment, and He is the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
[27:80] So put thy trust in Allah, surely, thou art on manifest truth.
[27:81] Verily, thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they retreat turning their backs.
[27:82] And thou canst not guide the blind out of their error. Thou canst make only those to hear who believe in Our Signs, so they submit.
[27:83] And when the sentence is passed against them, We shall bring forth for them an insect out of the earth which shall wound them because people did not believe in Our Signs*.
[27:84] And remind them of the day when We shall gather together from every people a party from among those who rejected Our Signs, and they shall be formed into separate groups.
[27:85] Till, when they come, He will say, 'Did you reject My Signs while you had not full knowledge concerning them? Or, what was it that you were doing about them?
[27:86] And the sentence shall come to pass against them because they did wrong, and they will be speechless.
[27:87] See they not that We have made the night that they may rest therein, and the day sight-giving? In that verily are Signs for a people who believe.
[27:88] And call to mind the day when the trumpet will be blown and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the earth will be struck with terror, save him whom Allah pleases. And all shall come unto Him humbled.
[27:89] And thou seest the mountains, which thou thinkest to be firmly fixed, pass away as the clouds pass away - the handiwork of Allah Who has made everything perfect. Verily, He is full Aware of what you do.
[27:90] Whoever does a good deed shall have a better reward than that, and such will be secure from terror that day.
[27:91] And those who do evil, shall be thrown down on their faces into the Fire; and it will be said to them, ‘Are you not rewarded for what you have been doing?’

*The word in Arabic ‘duabah’ is also translated as ‘the Beast’ .

here is the real face of islam.
You know, this is off-topic, but if you look closely, it is actually (An Orthodox priest told me this, who used to be Muslim) a composite form of early Christian heresy mixed with Arabic folklore and the expliots of Muhammed. Virtually whole verses are almost verbatim from sayings of Arius and other heretics. It was know that Muhammed came in contact with persian “Christians” some of whom were, apparently, heretics.

That could apply equally to Orthodox clergy, too. I recall reading a dialogue between a person interpreting the Vatican as the Anti-Christ and an Orthodox priest…I actually thought it was a Fundamentalist at first, but it is actually an Orthodox Christian:
oca.org/QA.asp?ID=37&SID=3

So it seems that the ideas of Fundamentalists and Jehovah’s Witnesses are seeping into the Apostolic Church aswell…😦

Prayers and petitions,

Hi

I am sorry but I also have the opinion that the teachings of Paul ( having few in common with Jesus, whom we love from the core of our hearts) was a seed of Anti-Christ, which when prospered and spread the world over by hands of the vatican/West based Christian priests/missionaries in the end of the days has fully blown into the Anti-Christ.

This is what I gather from the PromisedMessiah 1835-1908, at least the later underlined part.

Thanks

NIce cheap attack. I think your false prophet Muhammed is the Antichrist. So it goes both ways. After all, he went around slaying and pillaging, and forcing conversion to his false religion. So it goes both ways.

The harlot is indeed the Catholic Church to the JWs 🤷 Ravyn (the poster above) was one, so she knows. I attended their meetings for a yr w/my husband and they always talked about this and how the Catholic Church was it.

If you look at their literature, it all is targeted against Catholicism. They have a little book called “Reasoning from the Scriptures” and it’s in a Q&A format. Most are to try and disprove the CC. One thing I found hillatious wen I was first dating my now husband is that for Valentine’s day I had bought him a cologne and a card. Well, before I gave it to him, he took out his dumb little brown book and read me the part dedicated to why they don’t celebrate Valentines. Their reasoning is that celebrating Valentines dated back to a pagan god. So, I wnet home, printed a whole bunch of things on St Valentine and proved him wrong. St Valentine was a Catholic priest who used to marry Roman soldiers and their brides behind the emperor’s back and he got decapitated for it. So that is why we Catholics can celebrate it. So I shut him up… hehe

Sorry that was a bit off topic, but that proves to you their lit is all against the CC. I have all their books at home…

Hehe, that’s funny.

This is a little off-topic too, but, Catholicism is a very complex and beautiful Religion. The Mass, full of symbols, beautiful sights, thoughtful and interesting words, daily Catholic life, Catholic devotions, Catholic art, saints, holidays, etc, etc,…

It is a very beautiful Faith indeed.

But JWs-- why would anyone become one? No interesting or thoughtful doctrines, no “deep” theology, no beautiful services, no saints… what do they do all day in their Kingdom Centres or whatever?

Dear Metaron,

The RCC whom the JW attack has a noble person such as Mother Theresa. It seems to me that the JW regard Mother Theresa as part of the whore of Babel (or harlot or whatever they say). Is there any JW has done the same thing as Mother Theresa? How come “the only true Christian” (as they claim they are) has done nothing to the poor human? That makes us wonder, right?

Absolutely! They let people die instead of get blood transfusions. They used to not allow organ donation, but they overtured that rule (even though they claim to be infallible.) Hmmm.

Nothing interesting. They only study their strange books and their weird WT magazine. The elders teach the JWs how to preach and train them on how to respond when they face a well scriptured Catholic… when they find one, they actually tel them they’ll be back and come back with an elder to help them face this well-versed Catholic.

Believe me, it’s boring. It’s like going to Watchtower school. In fact, that’s what it is. The only times they actually do use the bible is to back up their strange statments on their books or magazines.

All you hear is Catholics this, the rosary that, the saints this, the Vatican that. It’s an anti-Catholic centered religion. Most of the JWs I know, if not all, were once Catholic. Sad but true.

If you ever have the chance to attend one of those meetings, you’ll see how much brainwashing is done. The last meeting I went cracked me up. This man was giving a speech on the end of days and how after ALL humans of all religions, except for JWs are destroyed, that they will get to pick up the pieces, destroy all church buildings, and will get to choose their dream home on their dream lot and will get their dream life. Talk about not being materialistic, huh? 😃 Then this man went on to say, “Imagine that your dead baby all of a sudden begins to cry, and you go to the other room in your dream house, and there it is, waiting for you to get him out of his cribs. Oh what joy will you feel!” I couldn’t stop laughing…

They want to have all the materialistic things they couldn’t have and they think people will resurrect and live on earth forever. Their joy is to have all they couldn’t have in their mortal earthly life, but now in their paradisiac earthly life, they get to have big houses, expensive cars, and mingle between the lions. :rotfl: On the other hand, us Catholics get to meet the Lord in Heaven, we get to live happily ever after, with peace and joy. We’ll live with all our loved ones, even if they weren’t Catholic.

Ahhhh… what a relief to actually believe in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh, and about them not helping the poor. You know what they actually believe on this??? They believe that it is more important to go to a homeless person and give them a “bible study” than to clothe them or nourish them. They don’t help the poor, they don’t help their own… so how can we expect them to help anyone else???

Wow… I just can’t see any reason why anyone would want to be one. Their services I hear are totally non-Bible-based, and boring… they just sit and talk…

Wow… talk about disinformation.

I’ve visited dozens of other churches other than Kingdom Halls. I’ve heard whole sermons where only 1 scripture is shared, virtually no one in the audience has a Bible in their hand, and the meeting is filled with singing or the minister talking on and on about some non-Biblical, philosophical idea he has on his mind.

In my experience, Kingdom Halls are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Virtually everyone has a Bible in their hands. Dozens of scriptures are being looked up by everyone.

We have 5 meetings each week, with each meeting including 1-2 dozen scriptures, along with an assigned Bible Reading section each week of several chapters.

Non-Biblical? Hardly. You can argue against what we believe the Bible is saying, but we immerse ourselves in reading the Bible daily.

Why not trying visiting a Kingdom Hall sometime to widen out in your understanding?

they are completely Bible-based but who’s Bible? They have 5 meetings a week at a Kingdom Hall. This Kingdom Hall can be shared with more than one congregation.

But generally the main or first congregation to have the schedule rotation has a Thursday night Theocratic Ministry school where there are 5 assignment ranging from 3 -15 minutes each where the students talk on a pre-assigned topic and if you are female you do it in skit format with a helper or ‘householder’, but the males stand at the podium and deliver a short sermon or homily. They are graded on pre-assigned talking points (ie gestures, volume and pausing, conclusion appropriate to theme etc…) and the counsel they receive is reviewed by the School Overseer publicly. This is for 45 minutes and is followed by the Service Meeting were the international exploits of JWs are reviewed and new relevant info from headquarters is received, there may be 3 or 4 different topics and they may be audience participation. There are songs before, after and in between. Prayers before and after.

On Sundays there is a public talk that is the object of invites out in field service the Saturday before, sometimes by a visiting speaker, for 45-60 minutes followed by the Watchtower study for an hour which covers one article Q&A style by audience participation and the review of all Bible texts. This is the major brainwashing and indoctrination. It is done on an intermediate level so as not to scare away any new ones who came to the public talk, but it can get pretty deep when it is studied by friends and families in smaller groups ahead of time. Generally you will see underlining and margin notes on the study articles and it is considered the most important meeting of the week. Same singing and prayers as Thursdays.

Then usually on Tuesday evenings there are book studies in various homes of smaller assigned groups who meet to study a pre-assigned section of one of the JW books covering a specific doctrine (ie Revelation or Daniel or Living Forever on Earth or Jesus Life, etc…)–for an hour and no singing, but opening and closing prayers. This assigned smaller group is generally who you are supposed to meet with to go out in Field Service on Saturdays. Sometimes there is fellowship and snacks afterwards but not as a habit.

Between the service time–which is strictly counted from the time you SPEAK to someone until you stop SPEAKING, only exception is if you leave old magazines in a laundrymat or doctor’s office you can count the time(hence the reason there are always old Watchtowers in laundrymats and doctor’s offices!) and the requirement which used to be 10 hours a month for regular members(publishers) and 60 (auxillary pioneers) or 90 for regular pioneers PLUS all the personal study involved in 5 meetings a week—JWs do not have time to do anything else! Which is exactly the point. Cults fill all the hours of the day with their own activities. Elders have counseling responsibilities and some of those Elders’ Meetings can go on thru the night. If you do not keep up this schedule–plus homelife and secular work you are made to feel guilty and even can be rejected and shunned.

I forgot you also would have a 10-15 minute meeting for field Service everyday, sometimes twice a day for pioneers before you go out knocking on doors, this covers a daily text and words of encouragement and goes over the territory maps and assignments and organizes the car groups. JWs are extremely structured, nothing is casual. Legalistic to the max.

The service involves the use of the new world translation bible, that is an alterd bible that you can only get from a Kingdom hall.

Sad to say I used to motivate myself to go door to door in the freezing cold by thinking…If this person dose not take my watchtowers I get to take stuff out of there house when they are destroyed at armagedon.
Or I would think about my pet tiger that I wanted…
LOL…how weird is that. I laugh about it now.
