Jehovah's Witness preaching. Increasing or fading away?

That’s true what you saying no human knows the hour, that’s exactly why they preach… They will only stop until God has said the hour has arrived… Our focus shouldn’t be on when the hour is arriving but rather on doing the task which God has commanded. How else would that verse be fulfilled if no one preaches?
When I was a kid and went to JW meetings it was emphasized in the past that while no one knows the hours, Jehovah’s Witnesses claim to know the “season.”

They also claim (well, claimed…I can’t say for sure about today and I was never baptized or otherwise officially a Witness) that they do know the dates associated with the Kingdom.

What I remember (and correct me where I am wrong) the following dates have or had significance and played a part on why the Witnesses preach (we were told it was important to devote our all and focus on how late it was in the last days, at least when I was a kid, and let it be a motivating factor in our ministry):

1914: the year of Jesus’ promised return and the beginning of the last days (some of those who were old enough to comprehend the meaning of World War I will comprise a generation of millions now living who will never die)

1919: the year God chose the Bible Students to be the one true religion because only they preached the accurate truth about 1914 (other religious people did, but didn’t get it right like the Bible Students did)

1925: the physical return of the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and David who would live in California at a house named BenSarim (not sure if they are still there or what)

1931: God grants them a new name in fulfillment of prophecy, “Jehovah’s Witnesses”

1935: the last of the 144,000 had been chosen and the door to heaven closed, now time to gather the “sheep” who will have an earthy hope from among the “goats” who will be killed at Armageddon

1945: the rise of the image of Satan, known as the United Nations (an organization inspired by Satan) that false religion and especially the Catholic Church will control

1966: the release of the Freedom of the Sons of God book where the Governing Body first announced 1975 as the conclusion of 6000 years of alloted history to be followed by 1000 year kingdom

1975: end of 6000 years

And that is all I know.

For us back then dates were important. They proved that God had given us the true spirit of prophecy. The 144,000 were the John/Ezekiel class who are the composit prophet that people will have to admit was here on earth telling us the right time for Armageddon.

True, I might not be one, but I am starting to gain a little interest again in their history since this thread began. If these dates are true (or at least they believe they are) and only they were certain about the events of 1914, then how can one honestly say there is no focus on a date? Look at the past of your religion.

They might not be preaching just for the sake of a date, but I am sure dates are important. the recent visit I just had was talking all about how the end is certain to come and how I should wake up and realize how late it was because the end couldn’t be more than two to five years away if not sooner. How is that not focusing on the hour of the end?

In other words, if I even had a hint of when things were going to happen and knew it came directly fromGod, I would definitely make it my focus. I don’t see a reason to shy away from saying that.
