Jehovah's Witness tells me, "I am a Christian.. but I don't "worship" Christ." Huh?!

This is a good example of wandering off from the prescription of the Divine Physician, and concerning ourselves with things of no import.

**At the time when the Promise was fulfilled and the Promised One made manifest, differences have appeared amongst the kindreds of the earth and each people hath followed its own fancy and idle imaginings. **(Baha’u’llah, The Kitab-i-Aqdas, p. 30)

**No sooner did the hosts of true knowledge appear, bearing the standards of Divine utterance, than the tribes of the religions were put to flight, save only those who willed to drink from the stream of everlasting life in a Paradise created by the breath of the All-Glorious. **(Baha’u’llah, The Kitab-i-Aqdas, p. 46)

Thus doth the Lord make plain the ways of truth and guidance, ways that lead to one way, which is this Straight Path. Render thanks unto God for this most gracious favour; offer praise unto Him for this bounty that hath encompassed the heavens and the earth; extol Him for this mercy that hath pervaded all creation. (Baha’u’llah, The Kitab-i-Aqdas, p. 24)

I had two lovely Jehovah’s Witnesses call on me today. I declined their offer to attend their upcoming convention stating that I am a Christian. The conversation went like this:

JW: We are Christians too.

Me: That’s great! But who do YOU say Jesus is?

JW: Jesus is the son of God. But not God.

Me: But the Bible says Jesus IS God. John 1:1 says the word was with God and the word WAS God.

JW: Well, Jesus is a god … but He isn’t God. There are lots of “gods” - but there is only one TRUE God, and that’s Jehovah.

Me: So you believe Jesus was a false god?

JW: No, he was “a god.” Like I said, there are lots of gods. Satan is a “god.”

Me: So you believe Jesus was like Satan?

JW: No, Jesus is like God. But he isn’t the true God. He is “a god.”

Me: So you worship two Gods?

JW: Oh, we don’t worship Jesus. He isn’t God.

Me: But the Bible says there is only one true God. And you said that Jesus is God. So He is either the TRUE God or he’s a FALSE god. Which is it?

JW: He isn’t God.

Me: What about John 1:1? The Bible says he is God.

JW: He’s just “a god.”

Me: A false God?

JW: No. He’s the mighty god. But not the Almighty God.

Me: So you believe in two Gods?

JW: No. Just one God. There are lots of gods. Satan was a god.

And so it goes… round and round. Honestly, have you ever heard of anything so wacky?
yes indeed, just last wednesday! and in reply to my question he said exactly that - they do not worship Jesus since he is only a god, not the true God. our conversation was pleasant and i started leading him to how the early fathers believed and how the bible w/c they held in their hands (though corrupted in translation) was compiled. to cut the story short, he had a vague idea, so i kind of introduced him to how they owe the Catholics for the Holy Book Christians use until the 16th cen when reformation took out 7 books from the OT. from the looks of his face it was a new info for him. his partner was his teen age nephew and did not join in the conversation. i looked at him often sort of making sure he was following in my intro hoping that the Holy Spirit may touch him as well.
God bless.

I pray , for their sake, that you did get over the wall with them and that they really paid
attention to what you had told them. They are so trained as to not believe any thing you
say, or to question anything whatsoever the WBTS says. According to the WBTS it is God’s mouthpiece. Confonting the WBTS is the same as confronting God.

I have tried to leran about JWs and visited their churches a few times, where a rote-like system of reading the Watchtower took place, making it hard for anyone to ask questions.

It is my understanding that YHWH/Yahweh/Jehovah doesn’t just refer to the One True God, but to the return of Christ in the Glory of the Father, or Yahweh Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts, King of Glory. This name was hidden by Jews thru many artifices. And yet the promised Name Michael is supposed to possess and reveal, when he coms with the SOn of Man, is to be trumpeted throughout the universe! Interesting.

David:
YHWH/Yahweh/Jehovah, etc. are not the only ones by which God is called. He has many names: allaboutgod.com/names-of-god.htm. But YHWH is what
He has revealed to us. As for the name Yahweh Sabaoth being hidden is conjecture.
Hope this helps.

Referring to Himself Bahá’u’lláh further proclaims:
"He it is, Who in the Old Testament hath been named Jehovah,
Who in the Gospel hath been designated as the Spirit of Truth,
and in the Qur’án acclaimed as the Great Announcement."

(The World Order of Baha’u’llah, p. 103)

He used the name Jehovah?

You know, I used to wonder why it is that this poster is allowed to proselytize in direct violation of the forum rules. Now I’ve realized that these posts are so bizarrely off-topic and inscrutable that they can’t reasonably be taken as effective proselytization on behalf of the poster’s religion.

Friends, you have to understand, most of my life has been Baha’i, meaning a follower of Bahá’u’lláh; so i speak from that vantage point. It has been intense because of the proximity to friends who died or had family members who shed red blood for this Cause.
Plus, my own personality is one of impetuosity, which i just have to live with.
I find many of my Catholic friends are unaware of deep Biblical matters, such as prophecies that pointed to Christ! Why is that?
One poster called the prophecy of 70 X 7 = 490, culminating in the Crucifixion “nonsense”!

I will undertake any challenge you would like to set up. Really, it doesn’t matter what the ailment, I can find the panacea or “catholicon”. Why wouldn’t I want to share it, if I knew the solution to all the world’s ills? Why wouldn’t people want to hear about God? Is it because they’re sure they know all there is to know, like the Jews did before?

The word the Guardian chose to translate as ‘Jehovah’, was Arabic or Persian for Yahweh, a form i like better. One Tablet from Baha’u’llah has the refrain Ya Hú! (‘O He!’, or 'O Thou Who art He!)
I realize Yahweh Sabaoth (Lord of Hosts) was a common term, such as Psalms 24:9 **Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.**24:10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.
We believe this and other passages such Ezekiel 43:2 **And behold, the Glory of of the God of Israel came from the east; and the sound of His coming was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His Glory ** --refer to both Bahá’u’lláh and His Fore-runner, the Báb (Gate), who was Himself heralded by four intermediaries called Gates after the last Imam, a thousand lunar years earlier.
What I meant was what you’re all aware of: Jews wouldn’t say the Tetragrammaton, but said Elohím Adonai instead, or something else. But in this Day, because of the magnitude of what is revealed, the Greatest Name is no longer a mystery, but a growing immanence in human consciousness. It is not possible for the Unseen Essence to rule on earth, but the Lord of the Vineyard, who sent out workers at different times, and Whose Son was killed, comes from Persia (east of Palestine) in His Greatest Manifestation, and spiritual rules as Yahweh Sabaoth. Every divine Prophet will eventually rule, either in His own lifetime, or thereafter. For Moses and Muhammad, it was during their lifetimes, for Jesus and Baha’u’llah afterwards, especially in countries west of Palestine.

Dave: many other non-Catholics were that almost all of their lives. But when they delved into the true history of the Catholic Church and learned the REAL truth, they all converted.
Some of the most vehemently anti-Catholics became Catholic when they realized that
what they thought was the truth turned out not to be, or that they held only a part of it… If you put your mind to it, and do your research, without any bias, you will also realize this. We do not force anyone to become a Catholic. That is a decisionn that is personal. Give it a try. I’ll pray for you.
God Bless.

Javl, Thank you for speaking levelly, and for spending even a few seconds praying for me. It is mutual…
I am in east central Indiana, about 30 minutes from the Ohio line. Have you ver heard of MeetUp.com? Local people meet with similar interests like bowling or crab rangoons (whatever).
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!
