I wont comment moore then that this issue is not something to play around whit. I feel deep sadness for those children,and I think I can say that so do the Church along whit all of us. However,this is not the forum for things like this,and let us all offer one Hail Mary on behalf of those poor children.

And the only “people entitled to it” are jw “elders” who will walk lockstep with the organization and reveal not one word to protect the kids.

Very sadly, I do not think that we Catholics can take the moral high ground about how any organisation deals with the rape and sexual abuse of children. We need to put our own house in order first.

I know a Jehovah’s Witness who was excommunicated for having a child out of wedlock. They don’t really show any forgiveness I don’t think…except for pedophiles it seems. How truly odd and disturbing…

what would be your reaction if someone posted a link here without any explanation or introduction, to a virulently anti-Catholic site, which made all kinds of unsubstantiated claims and accusations about the “pedophile policy of the Catholic Church?” Thge same rules apply when discussing other faiths, play fair. Why not post a link to what the JW organization actually has published or decreed or done about their policy.

I doubt that the Church is held in any high standard today (or perhaps you were sarcastic…).
Many HATE the Catholich Church. Non Catholic churches often accuse us of being unbiblical, pagan and other foul things. Many protestants hold us in contempt.
Many people consider us all pedophiles because a few priests committed such horrible crime.
The Church is abused in fiction as an ‘evil conspiracy organization’ (Da Vinci Code is the most famous example but several other novels like that are sprouting)
Especially in the last ten years the world has really come to hate the Church

Catholics priests have been responsible for about 11.000 victims in the US in the las 50 years (counting minors, children and adolescents).
In 2007 there were about 96.000 underage victims of secual abuse in the US (that mean about 3 or 4 million in 50 years!), as reported by health organizations, most of which occur in public schools, hospitals and other secular institutions… and the number of abuses rises every year.
I do not want to underplay the horrible acts committed by some priests and the shameful cover-ups that often followed.
It’s good that it is out in the open even if it hurts us as Catholics and hopefully suck pain will be a healing one.
On the other end, it is truly appaling how the media does not care about sexual abuses in protestant churches (which apparently are more common than in the Catholic Church) or in secular institutions.
And big cover-ups happened there as well!
What annoys me is that the media portrays the picture as sexual abuses of minors happened only in the Catholic Church… while the sad reality is that the Church is responsible only for a very small procentage of the cases.

I started to read it, then I realized, “the author is treating JW members like zombies”. Then I lost interest. Yes, children are raped and molested. It happens not only in Churches, but schools, clubs, neighbor’s houses, etc. It is disgusting. But I HATE when the media turns the victim’s parents into non-thinking zombies. It’s almost as if it was inevitable that the molestation occurred. I don’t think I could control myself if my daughter told me or hinted that any adult harmed her REGARDLESS of my loyalty to an organization. Yes, there are some zombies out there, but they have other issues besides a blind faith to a religion or a cause.
Every case is different. Every predator is different. Every church, club or school setting is different. Gross generalizations are what create fear and are usually used to attack the innocent as well as the guilty.
