Jeremiah in 2 Maccabees

Two questions :
  1. In the vision of Judas Maccabeus in 2 Macc 15 the name of the elder who appeared is Jeremiah. Is it understood that this was in fact the prophet Jeremiah from the 600 BC era ( approx ).
  2. The high priest Onias who also appeared and was praying for the nation, the temple etc. Is he already dead at this point and if so how do we know the dates of his life and death ?

The various translations that I checked (DRV, RSV, NAB, NRSV) all describe him as “Jeremiah, the prophet of God.” Given the accompanying description of his majesty and authority, the prophet who flourish around 600 B.C. certainly seems to be the person meant.

The murder of the the high priest Onias is described in a previous chapter, 2 Maccabees 4:34, 36.
