Actress Jessica Alba has vowed that she would ‘never’ strip naked for a film - because her Catholic background does not allow her to do so.

The 26-year-old actress revealed that she wouldn’t think twice before turning down a role that requires her to go nude, as she believes it is important to abide by her strict religious beliefs.

“I will never do a nude scene in a movie - not ever. I can act sexy and I can wear sexy clothes but I can’t go naked. I think I was always very uncomfortable about the way my body developed,” Contactmusic quoted Alba, as saying.

“I come from a Catholic family and it wasn’t seen as good to flaunt yourself. I can handle being sexy with clothes on but not with them off,” she added.

Meanwhile, Alba has revealed her willingness to become fat and shave off her long locks for the right film role. “If it’s for a challenging or inspiring role, I’d do it,” she said.

I never knew that she’s a Catholic.

Isn’t this the same girl who has no problem being photographed in suggestive poses, wearing nothing but underwear, and having the photos displayed on the covers of men’s magazines?

(If I’m mistaken, my apologies to Ms. Alba. If I’m not, then:  )

Yeah, she stalked me for years, but I said, “No! You’re too young for me!”

Good to hear someone else who has the guts to identify themselves as Catholic in a positive way. I am not sure of her behavior , it must be very difficult in Hollywood, but at least she seems to be on the right track, good for her.

Scylla

Not to spoil the mood or anything, but she also preaches, “Practice safe sex.” A common trend which occurs even when people call themselves “Catholic,” but do not agree/practice all of the aspects of the faith.

That’s one of the problems to the celeb. They may not know all the Catholic teaching. Even Nicole Kidman said in an interview that the movie version of Golden Compass isn’t so much anti-Catholic or else she wouldn’t be in it.

Honestly, it’d be interesting to have a hollywood celeb who is interested in Catholic apologist 😃

I dont think she considers herself Catholic anymore…
From Wikipedia:

Alba was raised Catholic and still considers herself “spiritual”.[2] In her adolescence, she became a born-again Christian,[26] but left the church

when older men would hit on me, and my youth pastor said it was because I was wearing provocative clothing, when I wasn’t. It just made me feel like if I was in any way desirable to the opposite sex that it was my fault, and it made me ashamed of my body and being a woman." She also … disagrees with the church’s condemnations of premarital sex and homosexuality, and was bothered by the lack of strong female role models in the Bible. “It certainly wasn’t how I was going to live my life.”[3]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_alba

that is sad that she didn’t have good guidance or information on what the church teaches…and the many strong female role models…

“No strong female role models?” Sometimes celebrities say the stupidest things. Who could ever be a stronger female role model than Mary? Oh wait a minute, that would mean you have to submit to the will of God to do that.

Well Alba did do one nude scene back in 2000 in a movie called “Paranoid” where it showed her undressing in backstage of a fashion show her character was ready to perform in.

I think one of the best Catholic women out there for role models is the supermodel Adriana Lima:

racerelations.about.com/od/celebritiesandrace/a/adrianalima.htm
  • Before becoming a supermodel, she wanted to be a nun
  • She owns a bar in Mexico
  • She aims to remain a virgin until she’s married
  • Her favorite author is Gabriel Garcia Marquez
  • She is very religious (Catholic) and wears a scapular around her neck

And somehow it’s ok as long as your nipples are covered. Remove the 2 square inches of cloth? Immoral!

Best? Surely you’re wrong.

Have you seen her nude pics?

Enough of these celeb ‘catholics’ …

Oh no!!! she’s nude!!! horrors!!!

Well good thing people like you were not born nude or ever undress!!!

What next? Are we gonna become iconoclasts and demolish every statue thats nude from the Venus de Milo to those nude statues inside the Vatican and my church as well?

In another interview with GQ magazine Lima also said she opposes abortion, goes to church every sunday, and seriously considered being a nun had she not chosen to be a model. And you think she is a BAD rolemodel?!

Lima is simply proof that a woman can be a devout Catholic and sexy at the same time.

Perhaps we’d all be better off to cease listening to what This Week’s Celebrity has to say and listen instead to what Mary says in John 2:5.

I also read where she talked openly about sex and being a sexual person is ok. basically, she was saying she was very permiscuous.

The thread has deteriorated to idle gossip.

Rule of thumb:
If you can’t support a claim in any thread with viable references, don’t post it.
