Which words then really are from Jesus?
HiWhich words then really are from Jesus?
I suggest that you examine it and apply the test of truthfulness to it.The Book of Mormon
HiJesus had twelve men who witnessed His miracles.
have you followed your own advice?I suggest that you examine it and apply the test of truthfulness to it.
1 Thessalonians 5:21
Test everything. Hold on to the good.
You need to read the whole thread if you really wish to know the answer to your question.have you followed your own advice?
I thought he was in a fish, not a whale (small point only, I know)You know the “sign” of Jonah was that Jesus would be in the “belly” of the earth for three days like Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days. That was the sign.
One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove your authority.”
And Jesus, after His death on the cross, was laid in a tomb for 3 days. On the third day He rose from the dead, as He also prophesied. But Jesus replied, “Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. - (Matt 12:38-40)
Many Jews, including the men closest to him, repented at Jesus preaching. They accepted Him, and believed He died and was resurrected. They became Christians. This makes Jesus a lesser Prophet than Jonah, yet they could not understand it.
- The Jews for whom the Sign was, they never accepted Jesus as a true ProphetMessenger of GodAllahYHWH, while people of Jonah all accepted him.
I honestly believe that this misconception needs to be corrected now. However, no compulsion
Thanks
HiThe Sanhedrin (Jews) didn’t believe him or repent. Instead they had him killed. What happened to them? They and the Temple were destroyed in 70 A.D.
This passage from the Bible comes right after the one you quoted.
(Matthew 12:41-42) "The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
Why do I keep thinking it is a whale? I just had this conversation with my husband and I said whale. He said fish and I didn’t catch it.No pun intendedI thought he was in a fish, not a whale (small point only, I know)
No problemo. It’s like Adam and the ‘apple’ when it actually says fruit. Why do I keep thinking it is a whale? I just had this conversation with my husband and I said whale. He said fish and I didn’t catch it.No pun intended
Thank you.
HiHi
I think the above verses from (Matthew 12:41-42) “The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here." prove my point.
Since Jesus was a greater ProphetMessenger of GodAllahYHWH so he was:
This is what I believe as to how the Sign of Jonah was fulfilled in Jesus.
- Saved from getting killed cursedly on Cross
- When he migrated to India and the neighboring countries, the Jews of the lost tribes of Israel accepted him in large numbers and he was respected by them as a spiritual king.
I respect your viewpoint
Thanks
Hi
Please remember no one actually saw Jonah in the fish’s belly just like no one in India actually saw Jesus in the tomb. But, they believed the story. I have not seen Jesus with my eyes but I BELIEVE.
Thank you for talking about your belief
