What does the church teach about Jesus before the incarnation. Was a spirit in heaven, or did he also have a body?

The Creed states that He became man/flesh at the incarnation, and so prior to this he did not have a physical human body. The Church teaches that before the incarnation, Jesus existed as the eternal Word. The nature of this Divine Word is the same nature that the Father has but is a different person of the Holy Trinity.

Jesus is, was and will always be the eternal word of God 🙂 I’d by Theology for Beginners by Frank Sheed, great book.
