I

do you think baptizing the dead is needed?
you would have to show me where the Corinthian gifts list baptizing the dead as charismatic gifts, because in 20 years of teaching Confirmation I have never come across it, unless we have Mormons who are converting.

You’re right. The only group I could think of is Mormons but the two people were no Mormons - one is lay catholic person the other is a sister (not a nun), I personally don’t think baptizing the dead is right. That was the reason I said we had to test all the spirits when we use charismatic gifts. This is also a reason I am taking my time to study the Bible and to seek for someone who knows about the Charismatic gifts before praying/asking for the gifts.

Although it sounds negative about this incident, I have to acknowledge that many people have come closer to God after going to a Light in Spirit seminar. The same ‘sister’ mentioned above used to be very sick and paralyzed on her hospital bed for about 2 years. People were praying for her and she got healed. This is the reason she has become active in the charismatic group. I’ve also seen many people going to the church more often, pray more…etc…

Overall, I am not denying the gifts, but I prefer to take my time and be prepared. There were quite few things told by those who have the gifts, and when I heard from them, I said I was not ready for it yet.
