Why don’t Muslims believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, for their sins?

Because to them, Jesus is a minor prophet.

Because to them, Muhammed is the greater prophet.

Because to them, there is no such thing as “redemptive economy.”

I minored in upper level (junior and senior year level) Comparative Religion in college and so learned something about Islam. Among the things I learned is that Islam is the third religion (in addition to Judaism, of course, and Christianity) which includes the Hebrew Torah as part of their holy scriptures.

“Oddly” enough, they too revere Jesus’ mother (Mary) as a VERY holy woman.

Of course, the Q’uran is their main holy scripture.

For your convenience, I did a quick search on Google for “Islam.” Got this page.

islamworld.net/

That which you have been given is but a fleeting comfort of this life. Better and more enduring is that which Allah has for those who believe and put their trust in Him; who avoid gross sins and indecencies and, when angered, are willing to forgive; who obey their Lord, attend to their prayers, and conduct their affairs by mutual consent; who bestow in alms a part of that which We have given them and, when oppressed, seek to redress their wrongs. [Al-Qur’an, Sura: 42 (Ash-Shura), Ayat: 36-39]

Here’s a piece at that site that talks about “Forgiveness for All Previous Sins”

In his class titled “Death, Dying, and Religion,” we used another texbook that Ken had written.

It’s titled:

The Sacred Art of Dying: How the World Religions Understand Death (Paperback)

by Kenneth Kramer (Editor)

If I remember rightly (well, I still have that book) – it covers how Islam covers the death experience.

By the way, he was a convert to Catholicism before I took any of his classes at State. I took all 5 of them – a total of 15 units of upper-division Comparative Religion minor for my business major at a state university that required business majors to minor in anything OTHER than a business topic because, well… a university IS a university and NOT a trade school.

Thank you for your reply. I will look up those web sights.
Anytime. Glad if I could help.

Still… remember THEIR God – named Allah – is NOT a loving god.

The one, true, triune God whom we know is named YHWH – “I am who am” – is a loving god.

HUGE difference.

Would help you if you kept that in mind.

Having read through these web sights, one thing puzzles me. If the Quran is the final revelation to mankind, has God ever said anything to anyone since?

Peace Sanning

For many reasons
  1. God said so in the Quran
  2. No concept of original sin in Islam and therefore no need for anyone to die for the sin of mankind. If you want to be forgiven for a sin that YOU, with your own hands, made…than repent…and God promises that you wil be forgiven
  3. Muslims believe that God saved Jesus Christ from the cruelty and injustice of the ignorant people by raising him up from this earth. He will, however, return one day…and set the story right about who he was and what was his message.

Please, let the Muslims speak for themselves 🙂

Allah is a loving God. One of the 99 names of Allah is THE LOVING. There are many verses in the Quran to prove this, if you are interested, i can post them for you.

I am a Muslim and I love Allah

Also, when you say “*their * God is called Allah” …that doesnt make much sense. There is only one God and we worship that same God. Many Arab Christians call God, Allah.

There will be no new religion sent by God to anyone. The completion of religion is Islam. And the final revelation is the Quran.

What she means is not what Allah calls himself, but rather how he reveals himself differently in the two scriptures, you will find the Nwe Testament infused with love, whereas the Quran is more brimstone and fire stuff, repent or i will send you to hell, follow the rasul or you will go to hell, type stuff.

yes ofcourse we must also fear God! Yes we must know what will await us if we reject truth! You believe in hell dont you?! well, Allah lets us know exactly who gets to be put in there…i believe this is part of His mercy…so no one can say “well, no body told me”

There are many and many verses in the Quran that talk about the mercy of God, how close He is to us, how He likes to hear our prayers, how he will forgive ALL sins if one just repents…how can you say that Allah is not loving??

as a practicing muslim, that accusation is beyond silly…it just reflects a person’s ignorance on Islam.

**advice to anyone who thinks Allah is not a “loving God” ** : save those remarks when there are no muslims who understand their faith around. B/c they will just think that you have no understanding of their faith. How can anyone judge the relationship between Allah and one of His servants.

From a slave of Allah…Allah is a loving God…alhamdulilah.

as sad as that is for some people, it is true. Some people stopped at Moses and rejected Jesus. Other stopped at Jesus and rejected Mohamed (peace be upon them all).

May Allah guide us all and only take our souls in a moment where He is pleased with us.

I read parts of the Bible and there are MANY times where a “loving God” is not present.

Why does everyone refer to the new testament…isnt the old testament a part of the Bible too?

Bible means “collection of books” :), I just thought that you should keep that uppermost in your mind when you refer to our scripture.

I refer to the new testament, because this is the covenant we live under.

God has periodically made different covenants with different peoples.

They are all continuous , and all point to the coming of Jesus.

Jesus is the sacred lamb, of this new covenant we live under.

It might be called the covenant of love, for want of a better term.

Yes, but the Old Testament with its “fire and brimstone” ended
with the coming of the New Testament which is as Hawk mentioned, the covenant of love.
