Using force against sinners is for God alone. Jesus is God. We are not God.

Jesus tells us to offer no resistance to one who is evil (Mt 5:39), to love and pray for our enemies (Mt 5:44) and that vengeance is God’s alone (Romans 12:19).

Offering up our own cheek to be struck is not the same as allowing violence against innocents to go unchecked. Using violence to stop an unjust aggressor is justifiable force against sinners.

There’s a time and place for everything. There are times when you should turn the other cheek; that doesn’t mean you should turn a blind eye to evil and injustice. There are times when you should actively stop injustice, even take up arms to do so; that doesn’t mean you should play God and smite down anything and anyone you consider to be ‘evil’.
