Jesus' commands

Peace be with you,

I was contemplating the institution of the Eucharist while saying the Rosary. In it Jesus took the bread commanded his apostles to eat it and said “do this in memory of me”. In a similar fashion he took the cup and told them again “do this in memory of me”.

My question is this; other than this occasion, did Christ ever command us to do something specifically for Him? He often said to …do this or that because it is pleasing to your father in heaven, or to ask for things in his name but as far as I can recollect, this is the only thing he commanded us to do specifically for him.

The Body of Christ assembles as each of us parts takes place and we re-member the Man who was dis-membered 2000 years ago. It’s kind of like we all have to get on the same wavelength or gravitation field; follow the field for each of our places. That field is the Holy Spirit and as long as we don’t keep clinging to things, ideas, etc, we will be quickly hastened to our place in the Body and each have a vocation.

He said we are to Love one another as He has loved us, and that this is how the world would know that we are His disciples…By our Love for one another…

Would that count?

In similar vein, he said, “if you love me, you will follow my commandments”. So we follow those commandments out of love (or as Paul, writes, as an “obedience of faith”).

Does “believe in me” for everlasting life count?

Since it is the wish of God that everyone be saved, I suppose you could argue that Jesus wants us to believe in him so that the wish of God is fulfilled.

But your example doesn’t seem to really qualify as doing something specifically for Jesus. The Holy Eucharist was given to us for our direct benefit, not “for” Jesus.
