I was just a little insulted that you said that I wasn’t really Catholic anymore when I said that I’m Catholic in name only and don’t practice that much anymore.
You’re being hypocritical and portraying yourself like you’re holier than thou and criticizing those who have different beliefs than you.
This is what I dispise most about the Catholic Church. They teach that their religion is the only way to salvation but look around at all the other people around you just trying to make the most out of their lives by attending the church that they knew is right?
I went to Catholic schools for 12 years and I’m not totally knocking down Catholicism. I just am pointing that everything that is ran by man has room for error. Nothing is perfect. I don’t think you should follow something blindly and devote your entire existence to it. The world demands that we must work for a living and also be good people. You can’t walk around with your head on cloud 9 like those people do on the Praise and Worship videos. There needs to be an equal balance.
I know you’re trying to help but I get defensive when people, especially really holy Catholics, preach that Catholicism is the only way to go and they only way you’ll be saved. I believe you need to follow your conscience and do what’s right, whether it’s be Protestant or Catholic.
I apologize if I offended you. It was not my intention. Please forgive me. I don’t consider myself to be a hypocrit and I try not to be critical of others.

You see, when I was a non-practicing Catholic, people would ask me about my religion and I would say, “I’m Catholic”. Well guess what? I wasn’t really–only in name. Sometimes the truth hurts mrs abbott. If you are a cradle Catholic and do not accept all the doctrines of the Church–or you do not believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist—or you don’t believe in some of the other sacraments—then guess what? You are not Catholic. Am I saying you are not saved because you are not Catholic? Absolutely not!!! God is all merciful and He will judge us in the end. I will pray for you mrs abbott. We are all on a pilgrimage to eternity. May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless you on your journey.

Peace,
Mickey

I agree with this–but Christ is the head of the Catholic Church. 🙂

There is an eternity of difference between a conscience (which we all have), and a well-formed conscience. The latter is what we are required to follow, and continue to form and strengthen.

A well formed conscience has to lead one into the only church Jesus wants us all in. “… I will build My Church…” He did it. It is His. The singular noun means there is only One.

If a weak faith, or a tainted conscience causes one to think that Protestantism is just as good… there is much work to be done. Condoning the weakness is not evangelism. And we have been told the work is plentiful, and the workers are few.

I know that your intention, Mickey, is not to offend. You’re explaining what you know and how you feel to try and help me. For this, I thank you.
It’s just that the more I’ve asked Catholic priests questions, the more I’ve learned and better understood how it all works. The reason I disagree with you about being Catholic and being Catholic “in name” only is because several priests have told me that once you’re baptized Catholic, you remain Catholic, unless you denounce the church and join with another religion. They told me that I’m a Catholic “in denial” and I need to search for the truth and for answers to my questions. That’s what I am doing.
I’m far from perfect and always will be. I’m human.
I still firmly believe that everyone will be saved according to faith and good works, as long as you live up to your faith’s full potential and believe it with all your heart and soul. 😉

Yes. This is better than the way I worded it. I guess that’s why I’m not a priest. :o

God bless you,
Mickey

They better know what they’re talking about because we look to them for guidance and advice. 🙂
