Did Jesus really exist?
Please provide any proof
What we have concerning Jesus is actually impressive. We can start with approximately nine traditional authors of the New Testament. If we consider the critical thesis that other authors wrote the pastoral letters and such letters as Ephesians and 2 Thessalonians, we’d have an even larger number. Another twenty early Christian authors and four heretical writings mention Jesus within 150 years of his death on the cross.

Moreover, nine secular, non-Christian sources mention Jesus within the 150 years: Josephus, the Jewish historian; Tacitus, the Roman historian; Pliny the Younger, a politician of Rome; Phlegon, a freed slave who wrote histories; Lucian, the Greek satirist; Celsus, a Roman philosopher; and probably the historians Suetonius and Thallus, as well as the prisoner Mara Bar-Serapion. In all, at least FORTY-TWO authors, NINE of them secular, mention Jesus within 150 years of his death.

Here is a list of the comaprisons between Jesus and the pagan figues. You will see, you make no comparisons between them:

No shock, but I’m mystified as to what you mean. Are you giving evidence on my behalf? Paganism is the status quo; there would be no need to historicize Jesus unless he were real. Everyone was happy being Pagan.
And the emperor and his legions were also more than happy to keep everyone pagan. That would ensure that no one would dare challenge Caesar, who enjoyed the ascribed status of a deity.

Despite Rome’s might, the Christian extermination progrom failed miserably. It’s not that the centurions weren’t brutal or bloody enough; the same Roman chroniclers who extol the Caesars also venerate Roman military might and the many circuses at which Christians were fed to the lions. But the Christians just kept popping up. Why is that? These martyrs often had families and wealth, which they were willing to voluntarily abandon while embracing certain death. Now why would they do that, if Christianity was a lie?

Sorry, but these claims that Jesus didn’t exist are silly and reaching for excuses not to believe (at best) or to classify believers as insane (at worst). They are also relatively new, which is very suspicious. Science changes, sure (technology improves and we can test and observe new things that we couldn’t see before), but history is something of the past and does not change. There are the gospels of course, and also secular references of Jesus as a real, historical person. This is why no credible historian denies the existence of Jesus. Not all credible historians are Christians, but they do not deny Jesus existed.

People died for their beliefs and would not change their mind about what they saw, even when faced with death. If the beliefs were false, someone would have leaked, just like some of the more recent scandals where a secret was being kept (i.e. Watergate). Eventually one of the eyewitnesses would have said something. You also have to note that Christianity had heavy opponents early on; people did not want to give up their paganism, and Christians were persecuted for their beliefs. Logically, if something as big as Jesus not existing was actually a true claim (or Nazareth not existing until years after Jesus was said to have lived there), it would have come up a long time ago, and Christianity would have ended as soon as it started. This is why I do not trust sources that say Jesus did not exist–it’s just not logical thinking–although I am willing to read about why people deny some of the claims about Jesus. Investigating the claims about Jesus is good because if he is who they say he is, then of course we have to follow Jesus. If Jesus is God, then it is foolish not to follow Him. If he is not God, then it is silly to blasphemous to pretend he is God.

Maybe Christianity does have some ideas from paganism. But if you pick apart every story, you will find some reference to something else. It would be an endless chain of someone else taking an idea from someone else simply because they have a similar idea and the other person wrote their book first. And of course the plagiarism lawsuits would be all over the place. Another thing to consider is that God could have revealed some truths to some groups of people over time, and waited for the right time and the right group of people before revealing the fullness of the truth. It is very plausible that the pagans had some ideas that were correct (and of course other ideas were incorrect/guesses), and when Jesus was born, the rest of the truths were told. Or maybe God did not directly interact with Gentile people at all (Jews are often referred to as the chosen people) and the pagans just guessed on everything.

I would suggest reading more on Jesus. The Case for Christ is really good (I am reading it right now). There are a lot of books by that author and they are really good at examining beliefs and claims about Jesus. Lee Strobel is a former atheist who ended up becoming a Christian after he did his research. He was very skeptical at first and did not want to believe (he was upset when his wife decided to become a Christian), but after studying a lot he decided Jesus was who people said He was, and then decided to become a Christian.

Jesus Christ do exists. No doubt about it. Satan is doing everything he can for people to think that jesus was a sort of myth or something…

Believe in GOD!!

Jesus Christ is TRUE GOD and TRUE MAN!!!

i can prove it.

Will look into it, thank you.

“The reason why all these narratives are so similar, with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula (the “Mythos,” as mentioned above) revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens.

For instance, many of the world’s crucified godmen have their traditional birthday on December 25th. This is because the ancients recognized that (from an earthcentric perspective) the sun makes an annual descent southward until December 21st or 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops moving southerly for three days and then starts to move northward again. During this time, the ancients declared that “God’s sun” had “died” for three days and was “born again” on December 25th. The ancients realized quite abundantly that they needed the sun to return every day and that they would be in big trouble if the sun continued to move southward and did not stop and reverse its direction. Thus, these many different cultures celebrated the “sun of God’s” birthday on December 25th. The following are the characteristics of the “sun of God”:
Code:
* The sun "dies" for three days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops in its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north.
* In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin."
* The sun is the "Light of the World."
* The sun "cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him."
* The sun rising in the morning is the "Savior of mankind."
* The sun wears a corona, "crown of thorns" or halo.
* The sun "walks on water."
* The sun's "followers," "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass.
* The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High"; thus, "he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12.
* The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30°; hence, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30.
* The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified," which represents its passing through the equinoxes, the vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected.
For reasons like this I find it very unlikely an actual historical Jesus existed.
This has been totally destroyed.

Not so similar (Besides, how would some Romanized Jews find out about a 6000 year old Indian Prophet?)

All similar religious figures to Jesus
No, not really.

The site I linked to is @ tektonics.org/. It’s been refuted on some things but it’s refutations to the “Pagan Parallel” idea are some of the best in the field and remain minimally challenged.

Consider, Jewish Historian Flavius Josephus. ~37 to ~101]

From my copy, *Complete Works of Josephus, *of which *Antiquities of the Jews *is included

he names in his history, others who were called Jesus
  • Jesus Christ pg 379
  • Jesus son of Phabet pg 467
  • Jesus son of Sapphias pg 497
  • Jesus son of Ananus pg 582
  • Jesus brother of Onias pg 316
  • Jesus son of Gamaliel pg 424
  • Jesus son of Damneus pg 424
  • Jesus son of Gamala pg 10
Since I’m sure you don’t have a copy of this work, and can’t flip to those pages, I found a link where you can read online, what he says about Jesus Christ. On page 381 which isn’t in the following link is a full page drawing of the crucifixion.

The following comes from Book XVIII, Ch 3, paragraph 3 Antiquities of the Jews
I left the footnotes operational

3. Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, [(9) (http://www.ccel.org/j/josephus/works/ant-18.htm#EndNote_ANT_18.9b)* those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; [(10)* (http://www.ccel.org/j/josephus/works/ant-18.htm#EndNote_ANT_18.10b)* as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.*

Josephus is not trying to prove anything. He just records that people places and events happened in history.
